Color Club Factory Girl- The Perfect Baby Blue

Hey Everyone!

When I was little I absolutely hated sweet potatoes and yams. I could hardly stand the smell of them at Thanksgiving. Then when I was in high school, as part of one of my classes I worked in a daycare where we fed the babies sweet potatoes on what seemed like a daily basis. For whatever reason, smelling those sweet potatoes every day or seeing the babies spit it up on themselves every day (appetizing, right?) I really started to like the smell of sweet potatoes and eventually Thanksgiving came around and I tried them and guess what?? I’ve loved them ever since! I even love eating a plain baked sweet potato with nothing but a little butter on it. If you have not had one of those, please do. I’m not sure if it’s a yam or sweet potato, I think it’s a sweet potato but it’s the orange-er one of the two. Try it. You’ll love it. This food tangent is gonna swing back around and get on topic now. The reason I shared that is because, just like my taste in food has changed, so has my taste in polish. I used to not even like blue polish very much, and now I absolutely love it. Even more recent than that I used to not like baby blue polish (one could even use the word “hate”). Well, scroll down to the pics because the polish I’m going to show you today is one of my favorite polishes and when you see it you’ll know my tastes have changed once again. 🙂

Color Club Factory Girl

Color:

Factory Girl is a smooth, beautiful, baby blue creme. It made me look really tan and feel really pretty and fresh. 🙂

Formula:

A little thin and therefore streaky on the first coat but easily buildable. No complaints from me in the formula department. It covers fully in 3 coats and self levels perfectly.

Yes, Please! or No, Thank You:

Yes, Please. Factory Girl may not be the most inventive shade ever, but it’s baby blue done right. Sometimes light colors tend to be watery and flood cuticles- not this one. Als0 on occasion they take approximately 70 coats to reach opacity- not this one. This is smooth and lovely and I just might need a backup bottle of this stuff. 🙂 I’m so glad I stopped hating baby blue… who knew it would be so awesome on!? 😀

Do you have a polish color (or a food if you really want to make me hungry) that you used to hate and now you like? It’s funny how tastes change. 🙂 Let me know what you think. Thanks for reading and till next time- Happy Polishing!! 😀

    • Haha I think you’re alright. It’s not a new brand but it’s not really that prevalent here. I have bought some around Christmas at Sally’s and Rite Aid usually has some, too, but not like whole collections or anything. If you see it you should try it though because it’s a good brand, and they have some nice colors like this one. Also- if you find somewhere that carries a lot of Color Clubs keep an eye out cuz they’re coming out w some really awesome holographic polishes pretty soon. 🙂 Do you even have decent clothing stores there in OK now or are you going to have to order everything or buy it from Walmart? That’s gonna be a lot different for you. There’s no Washington Square out there!! Haha.

      • Everything is Walmart unless I want to drive a hour to Paris, TX or 2 1/2 to Dallas. There is an Ulta and such up in Tulsa but that’s a 3 hour drive almost, plus $10 round trip in toll fees. So pretty much everything will be ordered now 🙂 I do miss Washington Square 😦

        • I bet you miss the cheesecake factory, too! That food you get w the arugula or whatever is so good!! Ugh I’m making myself hungry just thinking about it! Haha. Ordering isn’t too bad, at least now EVERYTHING is available online but I’d definitely miss just running to Ulta or Sally’s or Old Navy or Target or (fill in the blank) whenever I get a crazy idea that I need something.

          • Yes I just miss having some place to go get a drink. The closest place that serves alcohol is a 45 minute drive. Argh!! Makes an excellent excuse for drinking at home though 🙂

  1. i loveeee this color./. i’ve notice that when bloggers swatch their polishes and ask about favorites, i always chose blue.. which is weird, because yesterday, when i cleaned up and organized my stach, i notices that I don’t have many blues \green on it.. (i don’t like green polishes)..
this color makes me thing of spring..

    • It probably was from their spring collection cuz I got it around that time I think. And if you like blues so much I think you need to stock up!! Did you get For Audrey when you were in Chicago? I don’t remember. That’s a nice tiffany blue. I didn’t really like blue polishes for a long time and now I can’t get enough of them. I have a pretty good section of blues, it might be the largest section second only to glitter. 🙂

      • i didn’t buy many polishes while in Chicago, because i spent a lot of money buying clothes..! a LOT. more than i had expected.. now I’m paying my credit card and i will be buying polishes online.. i have a wish list.. actually.. hahaha

          • hahaha do you know that yesterday i was watching so many nice colors online that i came up with a great solution.. it’s sick but great.. i can get a prepaid visa to order all my stuff online.. hahahaha.. *shopaholic alert*

            • I’ve thought about that too! I think that’s an excellent idea because then your CC number is safe that way too. The only problem, at least here, is that there’s like a $10 activation fee for those so you’d want to make sure to buy a large enough one that the fee was only a small percentage of the cost. Idk if there’s a fee every time you reload it, too, but I think so. I’ve thought about this a lot. Haha.

    • Thank you!! I always say I don’t ever see a polish I don’t like, so clearly sometimes I’m running around w a color that looks terrible on me and I don’t even know/care. But I have to say, light blues like this or SC Cinderella and Whimsical are, for whatever reason, very flattering to my skin tone. Even the dress for my brother’s wedding looked so nice w my skin… made me look super tan and just looked pretty. Maybe I should get some blue clothes! Haha.

  2. Mmm sweet potatoes…I used to not like them as a kid, but I love them now! My aunt made them last year with butter and brown sugar and it was awesome! I had only eaten them with marshmallows before that…you made me excited about Thanksgiving! haha
This blue polish is gorgeous too!

    • Haha now I’m looking forward to Thanksgiving too! But we should chill a bit cuz when it’s Thanksgiving you know Christmas is just around the corner and I’m just not ready for that yet!! And- thanks!

  3. I can’t handle sweet potatoes or yams, I’ve tried them in several forms but its just not for me. The only time I’ve eaten sweat potato is in a sweet potato tempura roll. Its so deep fried in tempura you can hardly taste anything but the tempura…so good 🙂 When I was younger I hated green peppers..which is weird cause they have no taste. But then I forced myself to keep eating them because it was one of the veggies my dad grows so we had it in out salads all the time. Now I like it…there’s very few veggies I don’t like actually. I forced myself to like artichokes too and now artichoke anything is my favorite food/topping.
As for the baby blue, I always liked blue but was opposed to baby blue. Now I really like it too and it looks great on you. I’m still iffy with baby pinks though…I have one shade (CG go go pink) just to have it but I only wore it once and i’m “meh” about it.
Baby blue looks really great on you, I’m glad you got over your dislike for it 🙂 it’s a good match!

  4. I absolutely adore yams and sweet potatoes. My mom likes to just bake them and let all the sugars caramelize and I can just eat them like that…so yummy. Of course I would like something that is full of carbs…surprise, surprise!

As you already know, I am a huge Color Club fan but they are actually pretty high on my annoyance radar because of the stunt they’ve pulled with the Halo Hues. They should have never said they were coming out in August. Don’t they know the polish community well enough???? So back to this baby blue…I think I have it….but I haven’t used it if I do. It is gorgeous and it looks great on you.

    • Oh gosh.. yeah.. carbs… delicious and terrible.

I am also very annoyed with Color Club because of the Halo Hue collection. I mean, it was supposed to be out over a month ago and now I think the release it kind of “indefinite” from what I read a while ago. Also something that’s annoying me is this- so we saw those awesome swatches at CosmoProf.. they blew our minds and now we’re all like desperately awaiting their release. BUT they aren’t being released yet because they’re perfecting their formula, so that means the formula is different in one way or another from the CosmoProf formula, so… are the polishes going to be just as great and holo-rific? Or are we going to have another ChG Bohemian case on our hands (quite literally)? It makes me think about how the promo pics for collections might not even be the final product so it’s like NO WONDER we all get hyped and then let down. 😦

  5. omg, I love Sweet Potatoes!!! At Texas Roadhouse they give you Cinnamon butter for their rolls I put that on my Sweet Potato ever since! yum!!
I am loving this baby blue, its very Cinderella gorgeous!
