OPI Don’t Talk Bach To Me Swatch and Review

Hey There Polished People!

Tomorrow is the 4th installment of our 31 Inspired Days of Nail Art challenge and tomorrow’s theme/inspiration is: Green! 🙂 To warm up for green day I thought I’d share a polish that is a little yellow (like the last installment) and a little green (like tomorrow’s). The polish I want to show you today is from OPI’s Germany collection and I hope you all like it as much as I do. Without further ado I present to you…

OPI Don’t Talk Bach To Me

Color:

Don’t Talk Bach To Me is a mustard with heavy green undertones polish. Many people describe it as being much more yellow than it really is, or at least than it is on me. I suppose different people’s skin tones pick up different colors out of an ambiguous polish such as this one, but for me this is definitely greenish. I would describe it as a slightly murky light chartreuse. Think OPI Did It On Em or OPI Who The Shrek Are You only lighter and not quite as bright, clean and crisp. This polish also has some shimmer, which you can see quite well in my pictures.

Formula/Application:

Non-problematic. You might need one more coat than you usually do as this polish is a little sheer, but it builds nicely and isn’t thin so that it floods your cuticles or anything.

Yes, Please! or No, Thank You:

Absolutely Yes, Please! for me!! I love colors like this that you can’t quite describe without comparing it to like 50 other things. And I love an unexpected color. This is much more wearable than say OPI Did It On Em because the lighter shade and pretty shimmer makes it look more understated and classy than loud and flashy. I definitely recommend this polish if you don’t have it already. You will not regret it. 🙂

Are you a lover or a hater of polishes like this? I hope you all are excited for my legit green nails tomorrow as part of the challenge! Thank you all for reading and commenting (hint hint) and till next time- Happy Polishing!!

  1. well.. this is by far, my favorite fall collection.. every color is cool.. i like it, but i think i would like it more if it wouldn’t have that shimmer.. how do you call the polishes that doesn’t have shimmer on it? creamy? is that the correct name in english?

    • It is really nice! It’s a little more green tho that doesn’t really come through in pictures so if you’re looking for a soft yellow this may not be it. Ulta makes a soft pastel yellow called Cream of the Crop (I think! I have it but I’m not by it right now.) that you might wanna check out for a nice yellow. Oh and Ami- you’ve gotta check out Cynthia (of life and lacquer)’s post for the yellow day of the challenge. There’s a yellow polish she uses that is to DIE for!! If I ever went to sephora I’d buy it… I LOVE it and I bet you will too. 🙂

  2. I like how you are bridging the color gap here, haha.
I like this on you a lot! I don’t think of it as an “ugly” color on you, although I do in the bottle. I actually think more yellow when I see your photos, but I also think “slightly murky light chartreuse” is a perfect description.
I’m not sure how I feel about this one for myself…I considered it in person and said no, but I could still be convinced. I have ChG Trendsetter and I’d like to try that first and see how I react to it before I go ahead with this one.

    • Haha thank you, thank you, artfully crafted transition, huh? 😉 And if you think ugly colors look good on me… Maybe it’s just cuz I’m ugly and they match!! Haha. Jk. Thank you 🙂 This color comes off more yellow in pictures but as you know it’s definitely not just yellow. If you have Trendsetter you’ve gotta try it… Now THAT is an “ugly” color!! That being said if I found it, I’d buy it in a second. 🙂 If you liked that color on you then this would look like a color fit for a princess! Haha. Try it and lmk how you like it! 🙂

  3. I like this color on you better than I did on me, so I tried it again only this time I added a tiny bit of holographic polish just to the tips in a few random swipes (Finger Paints makes a holographic polish striper/nail art bottle!) and I love the way it looks now. I knew there was a way to love this sooo different yellowed-green.even on my fair skin tone. Your swatch made me give this one a second chance. Something about this color draws me to it. So ugly it’s cute kind of thing, I guess.

    • I always love a so-ugly-its-cute polish!! 🙂 And I’m so glad you gave it another try and made it work!! That was a genius idea to add the holo glitter with the striper. I should check that one out when I hit up Sally’s for the ChG Halloween collex, cuz I have a glitter striper but it’s kind of a opalescent orange color, holographic would be awesome!! I have striping brushes, but striping polishing with the brush already in there are just so easy and slick to use 🙂 I’m glad my swatch made you give it a second look! 😀 Thanks!

  4. Agreed 100%
I love this one, I’m really suprised at how much I love it. Up until recently I hadn’t got many yellow’s or bright greens, now I’m finding myself purchasing more.
I really like how unique it is and how it changes on each person’s skin.
    Great review hun!

    • Thank you! I also think it’s cool how it seems to look a little different on different people. I can’t believe you’re just starting to get into yellows and bright green! You have got to get your hands on ChG I’m With The Lifeguard if you don’t have it already. It’s my favorite neon green. 🙂

  5. I’m gonna be the hater gator here. Uhm, no. Me no likey. This is one of those ugly poop colors to me. I mean, I know it’s not THAT poopy, but it reminds me of those colors. I think you can pull it off but it would look horrendous on my dark skin…like really bad. lol I think I’m going to stay put with only 2 colors of the Germany collection. I just don’t care for this collection at all. I hope I like the Holiday collection more.

    • Haha… HATER GATOR!!! That was hilarious. I love a hateful comment. ;p Sorry you hate this one but hey… I’m into it. The weirder the better for me (within reason). 🙂 I don’t know that I really “pull it off” but I do like wearing it. Thanks for the compliment 🙂 I wasn’t that impressed by the Germany collex either but you know what I do LOVE about it? The mini set is called “Ger-Minis”!! How cute is that? I’m not getting it but I still think it’s cute. Here’s to seeing their holiday set! 😀

  6. You pulled this shade off really well! I was really drawn to this color from the promo pics and then even more in person, but I know it will clash with me waaaay too much so I passed. I’ll admire it through you though.
