Silly Lily Tequila Sunset Layering and Review

Hey There Polished People!!

I feel like I might be jinxing myself here but it’s so nice to be back to posting regularly. Ahhhhhh 🙂 It feels so nice. The polish I am going to share with you today is another one of my Silly Lily purchases (visit the Silly Lily Polish Etsy store here) and it is called Tequila Sunset. This appears to be a particularly perfect polish for me because a) I love orange and this polish has orange glitter in it, b) I love square glitter and it has square glitter, and c) I love tequila! Haha. Seriously though, when I drink I like to shoot tequila. I’m a big fan of less liquid/more alcohol so I don’t have to use the bathroom 50 billions times at a bar/clue/house party and I just prefer to drink something strong and get right to business. 😉 As a bonus point “d” I also like that it’s sunset instead of sunrise because quite honestly unless I’m on a road trip or have stayed up all night I don’t ever see the sunrise… sunset is much more my style. 😉 With all these excellent points about how this polish was basically made for me, let’s have a look at it and see how it worked out…

SillyLilyTequilaSunsetFPCircusPeanutsColor:

Silly Lily Tequila Sunset is orange, red, yellow and coral glitter in large hexes and squares in a clear base.

Formula/ Application:

Like any big, chunky glitter such as this, Tequila Sunset took some dabbing to get things where I wanted them to be. I had a little trouble with this because I couldn’t get the glitter exactly where I wanted it so on some nails I messed around a little too much and ended up with air bubbles. This is why you see the wonderful three-finger swatch here, haha. Like I said about New Year’s Eve from Silly Lily, I will probably try thinning this a little next time I use it.

Yes, Please! or No, Thank You:

Yes, Please! I love the colors and the squares and the size of the glitter and they all laid flat and behaved like good little glitters and I just really like this polish! 😉

What is your drink of choice when you’re out on the town? Or maybe you don’t drink at all- let me know! Also- what is your favorite shape of glitter? Thank you all for reading and till next time- Happy Polishing!! 😀

  1. LMAO NICOLE! You crack me up. I LOLed now when you listed why this polish was made for you!

I like the polish though. It is cute for me.

What do I drink: wine at home, if we go out (to a pub) it is whiskey (Johnny walker) on ice or Jack daniels and coke. If we go out to a party, I don’t actually drink all that much, will maybe take wine with then. But I’m not a heavy drinking really. Oo oo oo and I loooooooove me some cocktails too!!!!

    • All those oo oo oooohhhss might suggest that you DO like drinking a little more than you’re letting on!! Haha. JK! 🙂 I really don’t drink that much either, but when I do I make sure to really enjoy it. This may sound weird to you but do you like whiskey in root beer? One time I was at this hotel party and we filled the ice bucket up with ice, then a fifth of whiskey and then rootbeer and passed it around like a giant fishbowl and mannnn it was soooo good! And I’m not a whiskey drinker at all. You are far more hardcore than me, my friend. 🙂

  2. This definitely gets 2 thumbs up from me. I think it looks fantastic and once again, you picked the perfect base polish. I think I need to find a similar color to that Circus Peanuts FP polish because every time you wear this polish, I want to eat circus peanuts and I want that polish!! Well, you know I don’t drink that much anymore but I do love beer. As far as harder stuff, I love vodka…dirty martinis are my weakness. However, vodka kills me and has been responsible for almost every single bad thing that has ever happened to me when I’ve gotten drunk. hahahaha

    • Ooh keep you away from the vodka huh? Haha. Or rather- keep it flowing! ;p I don’t know of a color similar to circus peanuts… if I think of a dupe or find one I’ll let you know. 🙂 It’s an interesting color and I was really hoping it would work out w this glitter so I’m glad you think it did!

    • Yeah I guess it is matte glitter. There’s so much of it these days I forget what the difference is! ;p I really like the squares in particular. You wouldn’t think squares would be so special, after all I’m sure we all learned about them in preschool but dang- I just like em! 🙂

  3. This is a really cute mani 🙂 So cute that it reminded me of the cursed circus peanuts which I just purchased off of ebay mere moments ago 😛 It might look horrid on me, but it’s more of a feat I must conquer at this point.
Hmmmm..I have no idea what my alcohol of choice is. I never know what to order at bars so I always end up ordering a whiskey sour. So I guess whiskey? My best friend is a whiskey whore so it kind of rubbed off on me. In my heart I’d much rather have something fruity like a Malibu Bay Breeze…but I only order that if I’m in the right setting. I tend to end up at bars where I feel thats too girly and go with my safety of the whiskey (plus if there’s a cherry in it i’m more motivated to drink so I can get to that delicious whiskey infused cherry)….or beer haha depending on how much of a divebar it is. I prefer dive bars (to an extent) over clubby bars. I’m starting to go off track here……errrr…. I LOVE CIRCUS PEANUTS! 😛

    • Oh how fun that you got Circus Peanuts!! I hope you like it! How much was it on ebay? You’re a whiskey girl too, huh? Siobhan was saying that’s what she likes too. 🙂 I know exactly what you mean about depending on the setting you feel like those fruity super-girly drinks just wont fly. I also tend to frequent dive bar-type bars more than clubby bars. All those people trying soooo hard to impress people who don’t really want to give them a second look make me sad w how pathetic they are. There are those people everywhere, but I mostly like bars where people come with who they want to hang out with and just have a good time among themselves. It’s so annoying when some bimbo-y chick who looks like a mess keeps trying to hang around and hit on the guys in our group. Anyway, circling back- yay circus peanuts! Let me know how you like it!! 😀

  4. It was $4 something, after shipping it came to $7 which isn’t bad at all for ebay. I don’t like to pay higher than retail prices, but this wasn’t too much more so I was ok with it. And I know what you mean about the obnoxious girls …also the douche bag guys (gross). Plus I hate crowded bars where I have to fight my way for a freaking drink and then go through another hurdle of not being ignored by the bar tender all while trying to avoid the dirty whores climbing all over the bar. Just too much stress…lol.

    • I totally agree w you. I hate it when bars are like that!! And yeah I would spend slightly over retail for something I was wanting. 7 bucks isn’t bad. That’s less or the same as they’d sell china glaze for at ulta and they’re probably on par quality wise.

  5. If I’m going to do tequila, I am a fan of Patron. Although I generally stick to beer or wine these days, but I’ll have a cocktail now and again. I actually had a dirty martini recently – not sure what the hell prompted that decision! I guess three days at a trade show, hahaha (I had it the night it ended). I’m not a fan of fruity drinks, though.
Your drinking philosophy reminds me of what a friend in college called “efficient drinking.” “Efficient drinking” consisted of a glass filled primarily with hard alcohol (like rum) with like one sip of a mixer (like Coke) added in, haha.
CIRCUS PEANUTS! I personally would probably not choose this glitter, but I like it much more than I thought it would. The base color and your “reasons why” list kind of seal the deal! 😉

    • Haha well I’m glad you came around to Tequila Sunrise 😉 I like your friend’s “efficient drinking” strategy. That’s exactly how I think although I do like drinking champagne, and super cheap wine, and I like beer tasters where you just get to try a bunch of little beers. As you know, I wont be doing any drinking anytime soon, but hopefully by like next New Year’s Eve maybe (I really have no clue) I can enjoy some champagne. 🙂

      • Ha, that reminds me that I like super-cheap champagne the best! I like the cheap-ass pink Brut and, if it’s not pink, then cheap-ass Ballatore! I don’t like super-dry champagne. My best friend got me this HELLO KITTY pink champagne as a thank you gift for her baby shower…it’s AMAZING (I’ll have to Tweet a photo).
