Another Drugstore Gem- Revlon Heavenly!

Hey There Polished People!!

I definitely buy a lot of “salon” type brands of nail polish- OPI, China Glaze, Orly, Essie (which is also pretty much a drugstore brand these days) and for whatever reason I tend to shy away from drugstore brands. I don’t even usually LOOK at them when I’m at the store- with the exception of my Sally Hansen Insta Dri polish for stamping and my Hard As Nails base coat. Every so often though I see people buying different drugstore brands and it reminds me that there are some REALLY AWESOME inexpensive polishes out there!! I have several Wet N Wild polishes that I love, and Revlon Whimsical was a polish I wanted SOOOO BAD till a little polish fairy was so sweet and sent me some, thank Ave (from Polish Pixelle)! There are lots of other great polishes that you can find at your local CVS, Rite Aid, Walgreens or Fred Meyer, too, my favorite of which being Essence. 🙂 I love Mr and Mrs Glitter, Little Miss Sunrise, and Fame Fatal among others. The latest “hot” drugstore polish, at least in my eyes, is Revlon Heavenly. I saw pictures of it on Instagram and the next time I was at Rite Aid I just had to see if they had it. What do you know? ONE bottle left. It was like it was just sitting there, waiting for me 🙂 Ready to see it?

Looks kinda plain in the bottle, huh?

I love this!!

I love this!!

Kind of an odd angle, but I wanted to show the different colors the little squares shift to.

Just for reference, here are the base colors alone. The purple is Revlon Grape, the green is Essie Dive Bar

Color:

Revlon Heavenly is opalescent glitter that seems to mostly flash blue/green and occasionally orange in a pearly clear base. The blue/green glitters are small squares and the orange-ish glitters are small hexes.

Formula/Application:

This applies easily. The base for Revlon Heavenly is neither too thick nor too thin, the glitter comes out without any fishing, the only thing you may find the need to do is push the glitter around a little on the nail for a more even distribution. I didn’t push mine around and you can see that it’s slightly clumpy.

Yes, Please! or No, Thank You:

YES, PLEASE!! I liked it over these base colors but I don’t think I’ve found it’s perfect pairing just yet. If you like shifty glitter and/or square glitter (a big yes to both, for me) you’ll love this polish!! Plus, Revlon Heavenly can be found ANYWHERE so go on out and get ya some! 😉

How do you like these nails? I think next time I will layer this over Revlon Royal because I’ve seen that and it looked AWESOME!! 😀 What’s your favorite drugstore polish? Thanks for reading and till next time- Happy Polishing! 😀

  1. Never walk past drugstore polish! With a good top coat every polish becomes high-end 😀 I really like Heavenly, It’s so cute and festive!! My favourite drugstore polish hmmm… hard to choose but I really like Catrice sold out forever, Essence I love bad boys and NYC Mint Macaroon ^^

      • Yeah ALMOST any polish… I once bought a polish that didn’t even cover in like.. five layers? And it also didn’t try… it’s even too shitty for a sandwich manicure ><

        • Ugh that’s the truth. I got some neons once that seriously NEVER built up OR dried!!! Luckily most of them are good tho. Thank goodness for that cuz man when they just won’t get opaque it is FRUSTRATING!!!

          • Neons always work great with a white base for me :0) I bought technic brights collection and hated them until I watched youtube and someone suggested white now they look great. My fave polish tho is Maxfactor fantasy fire but revlon heavenly is gorgeous too :0) xx

  2. My favorite drugstore polish of all is Sinful Colors San Francisco. It’s a beautiful deep forest green with a subtle shimmer. Soo pretty. I picked it up for I think 99 cents when Walgreen’s had their 99 sale on Sinful Colors polishes. These are normally 1.99 so they are still a bargain. Spoiled is the CVS brand and the color Bite Me is a gorgeous deep rich dark semi sweet chocolatey brown. Wet n Wild I Need a Refreshmint is a great minty green that leans a little blue and is close to Tiffany Blue. Also only 1.99 at Walgreen’s, HEB, or WalMart. Maybe other stores too, but for sure these. The best thing about drugstore polishes? They are cheap and for a twenty dollar bill you can get more than you can carry! As opposed to picking up a Butter London or Illamasqua and getting only 1 bottle for your hard earned money. I tend to hit the drugstores first, and do check out Big Lots, Ross, and the dollar stores, as I have found Essie, Revlon, and other $7-$8 polishes there for next to nothing.

    • Ahhh I’ll have to look for that SC. Sometimes they’re polishes are so thin, but then sometimes they’re so thick people stamp w them so… idk… I guess I just have bad luck! Haha. Thanks for all the good tips, I actually don’t think I have ANY of those.

    • Thank you! Yes it looks so nice, doesn’t it?? I really want to try it over black but that seems so EASY so I always try to match it with other colors. I’m sure I’ll be wearing it over black soon enough. 🙂 I think before I was REALLY into nail polish I didn’t realize how awesome polishes like this were either. Maybe that’s why I was able to snatch up the last bottle! 😉

  3. Grr, I am jealous! Oddly, I haven’t been able to find this yet. I kinda want to check out Girly, too…it sort of looks like the pink Nails Inc. Sprinkles polish. Of course I have two of those I haven’t even tried *face palm*.
DEFINITELY do it over Royal. I swatched ChG Man Hunter with Nubar 2010 and it is AWESOME, so I think that combo would yield a similar effect.

    • I may even do that combination tonight I LOVE this polish!! I actually saw girly and now I wish I would have grabbed it for you cuz I didn’t want it. I’m just not big on pink and idk… it just hasn’t wowed me yet. Watch, now I’ll change my mind and won’t be able to find it!! 😦 I can’t believe you have the sprinkles polishes and haven’t tried them!!! C’mon!!! I don’t have them but I did realllly like them. 🙂

  4. This looks a lot more interesting than I thought it would be. It’s like a flakie, but squares…it’s a nice change 🙂 I’m the same way with drug store too. I usually look when seasonal stock comes out, but if I don’t see anything immediately I don’t look again until next season. I put a lot less effort into it than higher end brands, but every now and then you can find a gem. Btw I love it when I get the last of anything (as long as it doesnt look touched)…I feel like I denied someone else from getting it and that makes me happy because I’m an evil shopper at heart. Sometimes I’ll get something that I’m iffy about just because it’s the last and I don’t want anyone else to have it >.<

    • Hahaha!!! You are bad! I find that so hilarious that your joy actually comes from denying it to others!!! Oh my goodness! :p I am kinda the same though!!! I feel like the scarcity of LE polishes and ones I know I won’t see around much just like DRIVES me to get them, although idk if I feel that strongly just cuz it’s the last one. I do have a big anxiety issue w racing though so if I saw someone heading toward the display I’d definitely run over there and shove then out of the way to get the first glimpse. Ok I’m Jk about the shoving part, but it does really amp me up!!

    • Almost? ALMOST!?!?!? C’mon Traci! You NEED this! You KNOW you want it.. “Hi Traci, My name is Revlon Heavenly, please come pick me up at the store. I’ll be your best friend and love you forever and if you end up being insane and hating me someone will be thrilled to get me in a swap! See you soon!” 🙂

  5. I have Heavenly and Girly (great Nails Inc Sprinkles alternative, btw), they are fab! Heavenly is also a dupe of Deborah Lippman Stairway to Heaven, and I will never shell out for one of those expensive babies so I’m pumped to own the Revlon. You really gotta give the drugstore a chance because there are so many inexpensive dupes of really high end polishes (Revlon Naughty is a decent Chanel Paradoxal dupe, too)!

You also MUST try a jelly sandwich with Heavenly. I did one with Zoya Paloma and it was beautiful!
    Love your blog 🙂

    • Thanks! I’m thinking about doing one tonight actually. 🙂 I didn’t know that this was a DL dupe but I’m not surprised- Revlon always seems to be not on her heels! Thank goodness cuz I don’t wanna pay DL prices for polish! Haha. Thanks for checking out my blog!

  6. I almost never purchase “drugstore” polishes since I can get OPI, Essie, China Glaze, etc for cheaper than most drugstore polishes…seems kind of silly but I guess I’m lucky. 😛 I think this Revlon polish is awesome!
