Splatter Painted Nails

Hey There Polished People!

I have seen lots of cute splatter manis around so I decided to give one a go. I got my polishes out, got some straws, prepared for a mess and blew away. Let’s see how they turned out!

I didn't particularly like how they looked so I added a stamp to try to bring a little regularity which I think is what makes a mani good or bad in my eyes.

When I went over to my mom and dad's house I realized I had inadvertently matched the table cloth. Everyone thought I'd done it on purpose but I swear!! It was an accident.

How To Get These Nails:

  1. Base coat. Never skip this step.
  2. Paint your nails all white. I used Nina Ultra Pro French White which is easily my new favorite white nail polish, sorry ChG White On White- Adios!
  3. Next comes the fun part. You need to drip about 4 drops of Ulta Socialite on a piece of foil, then dip a straw into it, place it about 4 inches above your nail and blow in short bursts. It should send polish shooting out of the straw onto your nail, but you may have to play with it a bit. I found this hard and had to do the dip/blow routine several times. Do this to each nail with that color.
  4. Repeat step 3 with ChG Exotic Encounters.
  5. Repeat step 3 with OPI Goldeneye.
  6. Clean up your cuticles and surrounding skin with a cotton ball dipped in acetone.
  7. Apply a coat of Seche Vite and allow your nails to dry completely. If you don’t want to do the stamping, your nails are complete! They should look like the top picture. 🙂
  8. If you want to add the stamp, grab Essie Good As Gold and BM 301 and stamp this sunburst design on each nail.
  9. Apply a final coat of Seche Vite and call it macaroni. Go see if you match YOUR mom’s tablecloth!! ;D

  1. So my first thought when I saw these was, “Oh, THIS is the splatter paint mani she’s been complaining about? Whatever!” I think it looks really cool! I think I like it with the stamp on top, too.
I think my favorite part of the post is: “Go see if you match YOUR mom’s tablecloth!! ;D”

    • Hahaha yeah this was “the splatter mani” I was whining about all week. It’s just not my thing I guess. Although the more I see it in pictures the more I’m getting used to it. 🙂 I’m glad it didn’t make you wanna barf 😉 And yeah- isn’t that funny it matched the tablecloth?? Damn, I’m good. ;p

  2. Gurl, I’m going to tell you the brutal truth because that’s how you and I roll: the finished product with the stamp looks pretty cool but the splatter nails without the stamp are kinda….uhm…yeah. 😛 I think it’s hilarious that you matched the tablecloth without intending to. I bet your family thought you were cooler than Donkey Kong. And btw, you are a very good blower. That is all.

    • I was WAITING for that comment!!! Thank you, thank you. I get that a lot… wait… THAT’S NOT WHAT I MEANT!!! Anyway…. I agree w you on the splatter mani part but as I look at it more I’m starting to hate it less. Oh well- I can tell you right now that splatter manis are not going to be my new thing. Too unpredictable and messy, like water marbling. I’m glad you told me how it is, cuz lord knows I do the same to you!! 😉

Commenting is Caring!! ;D
