Essence Off To Miami- Review and Nail Art

Hey There Polished People!

While I’m perusing some of my favorite blogs I sometimes see nails that inspire me to recreate them. Sometimes I even remember that I want to recreate them and do it, haha! Today I want to share with you another one of my recent Essence acquisitions and show you some nails that I pretty much directly ripped off from Work/Play/Polish. I love this girl’s blog- it’s clean, the photos are great, her cuticles are nice cuz quite honestly sometimes some gnarly cuticles turn me off, and her style is similar to mine. I suggest if you like my nail art, or maybe if you think it’s even a little much and need more work-appropriate manis- check her blog out. She has wild and classy manicures and classifies her posts as (surprise!) work, play or polish. Polish is the category for swatches and stuff like that. You can find the post I was inspired by here. Here is my rendition of her nails. 🙂

How To Get These Nails:

  1. Apply base coat.
  2. Paint your nails with Essence Off To Miami (review below).
  3. Apply a coat of Seche Vite and allow your nails to dry completely.
  4. Using craft scissors in any design you choose, cut a piece of tape lengthwise and apply to your nail. Repeat this for each nail.
  5. Make sure your tape is pushed down with no air bubbles along the edge and then paint the exposed nail with OPI DS Classic.
  6. Remove the tape immediately.
  7. Let your nails dry to the touch and then carefully apply a final layer of Seche Vite.

Essence Off To Miami Review

Color:

Off To Miami is a bright coral-leaning-pink creme polish. It’s less bright than ChG Flip Flop Fantasy, but still super bright. It’s just shy of a neon.

Formula/Application:

Another great polish from Essence. Off To Miami is non-problematic- applies smooth and takes about 3 coats to reach opacity. No complaints what-so-ever. Also, its worth noting that I now LOVE the Essence brush. It’s nice and wide, the perfect stiffness and applies polish perfectly.

Yes, Please! or No, Thank You:

Yes, Please!! I love this bright creamy shade!! Also can I just say how much I love how Essence‘s lids match the color perfectly so when you’re looking for a color from the top you can find it super-quick?! Seriously the lids are dead-matches for the polish. If there’s shimmer in the polish, the lid shimmers… it’s awesome. Whenever I’m digging through my polish I curse the fact that every single bottle has a stupid black lid… EXCEPT MY ESSENCE BOTTLES!!! I can spot Off To Miami from a mile away! 😀

If I Named This Polish I Would Call It: Welcome to Mee-Ahh-Mee, Papi!

I like the Miami reference. 😉

Well- this was kind of a big texty post! Rawwwrrr. 😉 How do you like the simple nail art? How do you like Off To Miami? Let me know what you think in the comments below. As always thanks for reading and till next time- Happy Polishing!!! 😀

  1. First it was the Lion King, then Queen, now Will Smith…your blog is musical chairs!
Oooo, pretty! Fun color combo. I am proud of myself that I knew the design was somehow created with those craft scissors. ;P

    • You’re quite the nail art detective!! 😉 Since we are on a musical kick- what song would you like to hear next? Haha. We all know Cynthia is the karaoke queen! 🙂

  2. I think this color looks great on you but I probably wouldn’t wear it. I feel like it my look gross on my dark skin. But maybe I’m just being weird because I’ve worn plenty of obnoxious nail polishes before–Pin ‘Em Slater, anyone?

    • Haha!!! I thought this type of color would look even better on you w your darker skin cuz it would like “pop” more. Anyway… I guess you don’t HAVE to wear it if you don’t wanna…. party pooper.

  3. I seriously have to proofread my comments before I post them. I always write something weird. I hate this keyboard. I always feel clumsy when I use it and I end up typing something dumb because I’m focusing on the keys. UGH!

Commenting is Caring!! ;D
