Hey There Polished People!
Guess what today is? Well for one it’s the day that the Color Club Halo Hues are finally supposed to be out. Did anyone get them?? PLEASE let me know if you did. I have been so excited about them, but since the date got pushed back for 2 months I’ve lost a little of my excitement. I’d still love to get my hands on them though, so if you were so lucky, please let a girl know 🙂 Besides that, today is also metallic nails day!! I had the hardest time coming up with a design. I finally came up with something, but I don’t know if I like it very much. It makes me think of Cleopatra for some reason and I think it’d look better on me if I had dark skin. Am I too white for this design? Maybe! Haha. For whatever reason it just doesn’t “wow” me. Darn. Have a peek and see if it looks any better to you.
Metallic Nails
How To Get These Nails:
- Base coat. Never skip this step. 🙂 I used Essie Feed Me.
- Paint your nails with 2 coats of Essie Penny Talk. Apply this carefully, giving plenty of time between coats so you don’t get dragging or streaks.
- Apply a coat of Seche Vite to smooth out the color and help it dry quickly.
- When you nails are dry to the touch, use ChG Harvest Moon to add half of a chevron to your nails. Just use the polish brush and make a diagonal swipe up from about halfway down your nail to almost the opposite side of the free edge.
- Use the polish brush in ChG Agro and make the other half of the chevron using the same directions as above on top of the copper chevron half. The green will overlap the copper and that’s ok.
- Use a striping brush to add 2 stripes of ChG Agro on top of ChG Harvest Moon.
- Use a striping brush to add 1 stripe of ChG Harvest Moon on top of ChG Agro.
- When the stripes are fairly dry, add a final coat of Seche Vite and ta daaaa! You got your nails did! ;D

it is amazing how different this manicure looks under the sunlight and in the shadows.. well, i liked it.. you’re not too white to use.. chillax LOL
Yeah doesn’t it look so much different?! I’m hoping to get a light box for Christmas so I can take pictures that aren’t washed out by the sun but also aren’t all blue-toned from the shade.
i like when photos are taken under the direct sunlight 🙂 there are a lot of tutorials of doing your own home made box light. maybe one day you’re feeling in “art attack” mode you can do it..
Ehhh maybe. I think I’d rather just buy one though so I don’t even have to mess. But who knows… I might get a burst of energy some night and be building one! Haha.
We both used Essie Penny Talk in our manis today! Only you can’t see mine under all the glitter. 🙂 I really like your chevron design at the tips, it reminds me a lot of the braided mani technique, very cute. And I like the fall colors too.
Yeah I thought it ended up looking a little braided too. I want to try that but have a feeling my first attempt is going to be time consuming and quite the disasticure.
I still want to try it some time. Thanks for the compliment and its funny that we both used the same polish. I have to say, yours is waaaay more sparkly than mine tho! 🙂
I actually thought the tips were braided!
You’re sabatoging your mani! I can see what you’re saying about a darker skin tone, but I would never have thought that if you hadn’t said it.
I still need to get Penny Talk to work for me!
I have noticed that now that my bottle is a little older (like a month or two) it’s a little harder to work with, but mine still isn’t that bad, you can see it’s still mostly smooth looking. I would try using some thinner and see if that helps. Your topcoat should smooth it out a little too.. what kind do you use?
And yeah… I know I’m quite a nail saboteur.
These are awesome! I love the colors…
Hmm I don’t know if those Color Club holos are out! I can’t wait to see what they look like!
Thank you!! I bet these would look great on you. The CC Holos are out on their website at least but idk about in store. I haven’t seen them but I haven’t looked that hard. I really want to see some swatches before I order any though because a) They’re 10 bucks (yuck!) and b) they pushed back the release date cuz they were working on formula and the original formula is what we all saw from Cosmoprof so… I’m not convinced they’re gonna look as great as they did there. We’ll see! I’m sure swatches will start popping up soon. 🙂
I like the design but maybe not so much the color combination. I still haven’t been able to get find the Essie Metallics at my cheap nail places so I’m holding out until I do because I’m not paying full price for them. Hopefully I’ll start up soon and join you lovely ladies on these challenges again.
The Halo Hues…release date came and went without a peep from the nail blogosphere as far as I’m concerned. I think they really killed the excitement by pushing the date back so much. I am not going to pay full price for them under any circumstances so I’ll have to scope out my cheap nail places. I really am not that excited anymore. I think that EVERYONE is starting to release holo polishes so maybe they’re not as impressive to me anymore. And don’t forget my disappointment with the Layla holos. *Le sigh*
Yeah I agree w you fully. On everything here. The colors- Ick. The Halo Hues killed it by pushing it back so much, PLUS like I feel like I keep repeating (sorry) I have to confidence that the formula is going to be good and the holo-ness is going to be as great as it was at CosmoProf because of how they were working on it and that’s why it got pushed back. And I’m DEFINITELY not spending 10 bucks for all those. I might try one but at that price- that’s it. And if they chip for you like the Layla’s you definitely don’t wanna spend much on these bad boys.
I’m glad to see you though and I hope you start feeling better so you can participate in the challenge or at least just be around. 🙂
