Hey There Polished People!
As we move on to metallic day tomorrow I think I’ll warm up the crowd with some metallic stamping. 😉 I hope my metallic nails turn out as good as these, because I really love them! Wanna see?
Pretty Fall Leaves Nails
I included maybe a few too many pictures just because I wanted to show you all the different angles and all the shimmer in this polish. 🙂 If you look really carefully (specifically in the third photo from the top) you can see some VERY subtle leaves that were stamped with ChG Harvest Moon. Even without the leaves, this polish is so beautiful with its copper shimmer. 🙂
How To Get These Nails:
- Base coat.
- Paint your nails with 2-3 coats of OPI Wooden Shoe Like To Know.
- Apply a coat of Seche Vite and allow your nails to dry thoroughly.
- When your nails are dry, use RA 118 and Essie Penny Talk to randomly stamp the leaves onto each nail.
- If you like the super subtle effect, use RA 118 and ChG Harvest Moon to stamp shimmery leaves randomly onto the nails, being careful not to overlap the copper leaves.
- Seal your nails with a coat of Seche Vite and show em off! 😉
I really loved these nails but I wish I’d just passed on the Harvest Moon since it didn’t show up very well. Oh well- next time. 🙂 Let me know what you think of them! Thanks for reading and till next time- Happy Polishing!! 😀
Love your leaves nails!
Thank you! I wish the subtle stamping showed up a bit more but I love that base color w the copper on top. 🙂
I am soo doing this with my next mani. Love it.
Awesome!! If you have twitter send me a pic!! I bet it’ll look awesome. 😀 Oh and PS: you asked about some grey and pink plaid nails, didn’t you? I haven’t forgotten, btw, and I think I just got the perfect grey to use! 🙂
I don’t twitter, but I do post my manis on my photobucket page. Here’s a link: http://photobucket.com/pinktigger-nailart
Cool, thank you! 🙂
Wow I just checked out your nails and they’re awesome! There were some blue and teal/turquoise ones that were particularly cool and your under the sea nails and gosh just like all of them!! Those are so good!! You should get on Beautylish if you aren’t already! And get on twitter so you can join the nail lady craziness. 🙂 If I had an acct w photobucket I’d have liked them all. Are you on IG?
Your stamping is so neat… A friend of yours directed me here when I asked for stamping advice. I see you use a lot of Insta-Dri! They come out so nice… When I stamp with Insta-Dri it usually turns out pretty sheer.
If you don’t mind me asking, what do you use as a scraper? I don’t use my stamper’s scraper because it’s made of metal and scratches my stamping plate. I now use an old hospital card made of hard plastic, but I wonder if this doesn’t leave enough polish in the design. Could also be that I have a cheap stamping plate and the designs aren’t carved deep enough…
Any advice for someone stuck with stamp-envy? 😉
Hi! Who referred you here? I’m glad you found me though. I’d be happy to give you as much advice as you’d like to hear! Haha. 🙂 First, the type of stamping plates you have definitely make a difference, and to properly trouble shoot, do you find that your stamped images are just sheer or that they’re incomplete? I use a Konad scraper that I bought on Amazon for a few dollars, I can’t get a credit card-type thing to scrape properly for me. I do find that I need to hold my scraper at white an angle (like 45ish) and that my scraper kind of has a good side and a bad side so I marked the good side and try to remember to use that. Depending on the brand of your plates, the recesses may not be deep enough to use Insta-Dris (if you’re still getting a full image, the polish has to be the problem) so if you’ve tried the colors I use maybe you could invest in some konad polishes. I actually use all kinds of polishes but Konad is fool-proof for the most part and Insta-Dri is a close second for me. I’ve only found one polish of theirs that I can’t stamp w and that was a glitter (In a flurry). If you’d like more advice just go ahead and question away, or if you need a little more real-time advice, tweet me next time you’re gonna stamp and I’ll try to help troubleshoot it as you go. Stamping opens up so many more options for your nails, so I’d be happy to help you get the hang of it. 🙂 Thanks for stopping by!
It was this redditor here who sent me: http://www.reddit.com/user/TheLittleCanvas 🙂
Thanks for the detailed reply! I’ll have to do a few trials (and errors) to answer you in more detail. As far as I know, I get the full image, it’s just a bit sheer. Oh well, I just ordered some Bundle Monster plates and I hear those are deep enough and work quite well. As for the scraper, maybe that’s my problem! What is the Konad svcraper made of? Metal? If so, does it scratch your plates?
It was this redditor right here who sent me: http://www.reddit.com/user/TheLittleCanvas 😀
Thanks so much for the detailed advice… I’ll try a few more times and see what answers I can come up with. As far as a remember, I do get full images but they’re very sheer. I think maybe the plate itself is the problem, perhaps it isn’t engraved deeply enough. Oh well, I’ve got Bundle Monster plates on the way so if that’s the issue, maybe this will solve it.
I was also wondering about your Konad scraper… Is it made of metal? If so, does it scratch the surface of your plates? My stamper has a metal scraper but I never use it because it damages the plate. Maybe it’s the old card I’m using that scrapes too much polish off, giving me a sheer pattern.
Anyway, thanks a million! I love your stamping combos, I can’t wait to get my new plates and follow in your stamping-madness-footsteps.
Yay for stamping madness! Haha. I was wondering if it was Alaina who sent you here. She’s awesome. 🙂 Anyway- if your designs are full but just too sheer I would think that it’s probably the polish. However, I know from experience that BM stamping plates are awesome so you’ll know for sure when you try those. Once you get them, if you still have issues let me know and I’ll trouble-shoot some more with you. 🙂 I doubt it’s your scraper because unless the scraper your using is soft, like if you used something rubber, it really shouldn’t be taking more polish than is necessary. A plastic card should work just fine, if anything it wouldn’t take enough and you’d have a bit of a sloppy design. My scraper is metal and on occasion it does scrape a plate a little but never enough to really damage it. My scraper definitely has a good and bad side, like I think I said before and so long as I use that “good” side and hold it at an angle it works perfectly without scraping my plates at all. Which metal scraper do you use? If you want to try something before your new plates get there, go get yourself some SH Insta-Dri in Brisk Blue or Lightening or Rapid Red (those are all ones I’ve used a lot and I know they work, plus they only cost like 5 bucks so it’s small investment) and see if that works with your existing plates. If those don’t work- like you’re still getting a full stamp but too sheer- then it’s gotta be the depth of the engraving. I really hope something helps so you can get into stamping. It’s awesome and you’ll get sooo many questions and compliments on your nails… I promise. 😀 Thanks again for consulting me… keep me posted!! 🙂
those leaves are so pretty. such a nice color combination
Thank you! When I was trying to think of something to use with that Penny Talk I immediately remembered this beautiful brown. 🙂
Hmmm… something about this seems familiar, I assume you didn’t see my post yesterday lol 😛
I just saw them!! That is CRAZY!! We must have ESP. I’m the worst w staying current. I like to let blog posts pile up and then read and comment on them all in one night. Haha. Yours look awesome! I can’t believe we seriously did like the exact same thing. 🙂
Just shows we have great taste 🙂
I agree 😀
LOVE these! I’m really digging brown polish lately and these are simple and adorable. ❤
Thank you! Did you see Frosso’s? I just found out we did pretty much the exact same thing! Haha. I do love this brown polish. All that shimmer is just too pretty! 🙂
Essie Penny Talk! I think I need it in my life lol. I love this!! Ready for Fall 🙂
You do! It’s so pretty. 🙂
This is so pretty, now i think i have to have OPI Wooden Shoe Like To Know!! ❤
Thank you! You definitely should. It’s a perfect fall color. 🙂 And the formula is great too. Just FYI. 🙂
This is so beautiful! I dont have any fall/halloween stamps other than my spider web one. I love penny talk and it stamped over this beautiful brown, love this mani! Metallics are like the perfect stamper colors!
I know! I want like all the essie Mirror Metallics now that I know how well they stamped and I want more metallics too after seeing some people’s awesome stamped nails on IG. Oh and I want your spiderweb stamp. That’s awesome! 🙂
lol!!! thanks
So pretty and delicate!
Thank you! I thought they were really pretty too. I think I’m going to have to get more of those Mirror Metallics for stamping. 🙂 These two polishes just begged to be put together. 🙂
I could not, for the life of me, figure out what base polish you were wearing! I always try to figure it out before I scroll down to see what you used (if multiple polishes are involved). I forgot how pretty it is. The Holland Collection was the last collection that I really liked from OPI and that makes me sad! The leaves are stamped to perfection. I love the overall look…very harmonious. Does that sound weird? I just think everything goes together so well.
Not to sound conceited but I totally agree!! The copper shimmer w the copper stamping… I really felt good about these nails! 🙂 I do the same thing like you’re saying- try to guess the polish before I actually see what it is. 🙂 It’s a fun game. Haha. And yes I agree about Holland. That was a pretty collex. I kinda like some of these Bond colors tho, have you picked any up? I have not… yet.
