Here Comes the Bride… With Some Awesome Nails!

Hey Everyone,

Today I want to show you the nails that my brother’s fiancée has decided on for her wedding. Some things you need to know to fully grasp the concept is that the colors for the wedding are aqua and purple, the bride is all but obsessed with Hawaii and everything tropical, they are getting married on the beach, and they are going to Hawaii for their honeymoon. Now that you’ve been clued in on the general feel of the wedding, let’s see the nails she has decided upon!

Wedding Nails

These were the nails we were going to do. They are a base of ChG Aquadelic, stamped with BM 301 and Ulta Celebutante, and then stamped again with Konad Special White and BM 318.

Then I told her I have a stamp (BM 311) that has the word “love” on it with a bit of a definition in the background and she said she wanted both of these stamps (the Hawaiian flower and the love stamp) so we came up with an accent nail design.

Please excuse my disgusting cuticles. I did these at my mom’s and clearly didn’t do a very good job with the clean up. 😦

So… which of these do you like best? Do you like the accent nail look, or just the Hawaiian flower design? I’m pretty sure she’s going to go with the accent nail, but you never know. How do you feel about nail art being immortalized in wedding photos? I myself am pretty hyped!! I think the traditional hand/ring photo is going to be awesome with these nails. She’s going to get artificial nails, I believe, and then I’m going to paint them. They’re gonna look SO NICE no matter what she decides on. I’m so excited she asked me to do this!! Let me know what you think! Thanks for reading and till next time- Happy Polishing!! 😀

  1. Again with the gradient stamp! It really is amazing. I honestly like the version without the accent nail. Usually I’m all about them, but in this case I would do without the “love” stamp and do all floral. Or do the gradient and a single floral stamp. One of the reasons I took so long to get into stamping is because I always worried about the designs looking too busy. But I think this is pretty and delicate.

I’m actually in a wedding this October where the colors are teal and purple. They’re very pretty complimentary colors.

    • Yes the colors together are super pretty! You can go a little brighter for summer or more subdued for fall… I love it. 🙂

I totally get what you mean about stamping being too busy. However- I guess I like busy nails so I just never met a stamp I didn’t like! Haha. Thanks for the advice on the stamping. I’ll run it by her and see what she thinks. 🙂 I’ll update you guys on how it all goes! 😃

  2. Hmm…first I thought I like the word stamp better, but now I think I like the flower stamp better. I’m just thinking of how these will look with a white dress and those are more bold! I think it is AWESOME she’s willing to go outside the box and I think they’ll look fab no matter what! I’m glad she asked you to do them for her, too!

    • I think they’re gonna be awesome either way. Im pretty sure she’s set on the stamp but we’ll see come Friday night.

I know these are a little bold for a wedding but I think they’re gonna be awesome. You don’t see your hands that much in pictures except for the hands/rings pic and what would be better there than to have some awesome nails!!?? I mean really, everyone has the french manicure nails for their wedding. Snoooooooze!!! I wish I’d done my nails up for my wedding but that was waaaay before I was a crazy nail lady. 😉 I’m all for these nails and super hyped. I hope you see my nails that I post tomorrow and weigh in on which are your faves. I am 80% set on a certain design but I’m just not totally set yet. 🙂

  3. I think I prefer the floral but there is something kinda nice about having one print on the ring finger that is a little different. Plus it’s awesome you’re going to have your nail design immortalized in the ring pictures. 🙂

    • Haha I know right, Ami?!?! I feel so dang professional. This is kinda weird but is it crazy that all this nail stuff has made me kinda consider doing something like this, like professionally? I wish you didnt need a license to do nails. Ideally I’d just like to paint people’s nails and not have to file them or anything cuz thats kinda gross. Anyway- I’m hyped about the pictures too and I really hope he’ll take some excellent pics of the nails so I can post them here and everywhere!!! 😀

      • Yeah I’d be grossed out by the cleaning and cutting myself. People’s nails can be really nasty. I keep thinking about the sidekick on Nacho Libre, he had those horrible toe nails. No thank you.

        • Ewwwww toe nails!!! Yeah and just the fact that they’re basically dead skin is enough to make me wanna barf! People have been telling me a lot tho that I missed my calling. Haha. Wish I could capitalize on this!!

  4. I love the different ideas for wedding nails. I love that you took into consideration her wedding colors and some of the things she loves. That totally makes it unique and thoughtful. I lived in Hawaii and these nails are perfect for a beach wedding! I just stumbled upon your blog and I’m already hooked… +Love!

    • Aww thank you so much!! I hope I hear more from you in the future! I’m just so happy she brought up me doing her nails. I don’t think she thought I’d really want to, but then I was all over it sending her design ideas and buying perfectly matching polishes… Haha. This is what I like to do. Take a theme or color scheme and design something to go along w it. I’m glad you like them too, given her theme and everything she likes I just think these are going to be perfect and awesome! Not to mention eye-catching! That photog better get some good nail pics! ;p

    • Thank you! I totally agree. I think it’ll be very unique and cool. I’m into unique and personal for weddings. Also to go along w the wedding I made some little anchor bracelets (the ones I posted on twitter if you saw them) and we made her save the dates and wedding programs so she’ll have a lot of personal stuff in and for the wedding. 🙂 OH- and we etched some glass and my brother built a box for the sand ceremony. We are a crafty bunch, huh? Haha.

    • Thanks! I’m pretty sure that’s what she’s gonna go w but we’ll see what she says. I thought it might be kinda cute if all the bridesmaids and her had that same accent nail stamp, but idk what the other bridesmaids’ nails are gonna look like and my design may not lend itself to stamping so that might be out of the question. Thanks for reading and commenting!!

  5. I would have never thought of nails like this for a wedding. Kudos to her for being bold. I think I like the nails better without the Love stamp. Despite what I say, I think I am pretty conservative when it comes to certain things. The wedding sounds like it will have such a nice vibe. Ultimately, that’s what weddings should be: all about what makes the couple happy and not to conform to what other people expect. I really like the color combo too.

    • While I LOVE the accent finger, I think it might be a bother for pictures, especially pictures of the ring. I’m really OCD about things being right side up, so I’d want for the word LOVE to always look right, and it would take away from the artistic value of the pictures.

      • I see what you’re saying about that. Maybe we could ask the photographer what he has planned and then make a decision. That’s an excellent point though in case he wanted some different shots where the wording would end up upside down. Thanks for the comment, Krystal!

    • I totally agree. I think weddings should be FUN! I mean they’re so expensive, you should definitely focus on making it the biggest party you’ll ever throw. I designed so much of my own stuff, it was awesome. I wish I’d been into nails then cuz I’d have had some awesome nail pics to post! Haha. As it was I just had boring artificial nails w the French tip. Zzz Zzz Zzz. I guess this design is a bit bold for a wedding but you don’t see your nails all that much in pictures as stuff and in what do you see, I think these will look awesome. 🙂 I’m so excited to get down there (where the wedding is) and get things set up, do her nails and mine, etc and get this party , oops I mean wedding, started! 😉

    • And also I would not have thought you’d be very conservative! I suppose you’d like plain french tip nails or a light pink? Booooooo. 😉 I’m mostly Jk. 🙂

  6. These nails are awesome!! They seem perfect for the wedding! Eek! So exciting 😀 Hmm I kind of like the mani with the accent…but it still looks good without it too…Whichever it ends up being, it will look great!

    • Thanks Traci! I think it will look good ether way too. We just will have to make sure she thinks about right side up/ upside down before she makes a decision. I’m getting excited!!! I can’t wait to see how it all goes down and then tell everyone about it 😀

  7. At first I thought these were going to be your nails! It’s pretty awesome she’s having you do her nails for her wedding 🙂 I think it would be really sweet if she had all 9 fingers stamped with the flowers and just her ring finger on her left hand stamped with love. I hardly think having one different nail will be distracting in the pictures. You’ll only really notice it if she has up close shots taken of her hands, but thats up to her if it bothers her or not. Judging by her bold choice I don’t think she would mind.
