Bachelorette Party Nails

Good Morning Everyone!

Last weekend was my brother’s fiancée’s bachelorette party, so naturally I was trying to figure out the just-right nails to wear that night. I wanted something to kind of match my black and silver outfit (black pants, black top with a low lattice back and v-neck in the front with silver stud details- very cute, if I do say so myself ;)), and I wanted something fun and flirty. I had major polisher’s block (like writer’s block, but with glitter to help you break through) so I’m not totally thrilled with what I came up with… but they were alright. Let’s see-

Bachelorette Party Nails

The first photo is of the nails I wore out that night, the second is of those nails the second day when I slapped on a coat of ChG Fairy Dust to perk ’em up. 🙂

How To Get These Nails:

  1. Base coat.
  2. Apply 1 coat of OPI Metallic 4 Life.
  3. Apply 1 coat of Orly Androgynie.
  4. Apply one super-thin coat of Revlon Scandalous.
  5. Use BM 303 and Konad Special Silver polish to stamp the lip prints on.
  6. Apply your favorite top coat.
  7. Add a thin coat of ChG Fairy Dust and another coat of top coat (optional)

I don’t even know what to say about these nails.. It’s not like I hate them but they didn’t turn out as I had hoped. Part of the problem is that dang Orly Androgynie– the base is too thick so it hides anything under it and half the glitter in it! I wish I would have done some sort of stamp over a gradient but… maybe next time.

What do you think about these nails? What should I wear to the next bachelorette party I go to? As always- thank you for reading and till next time- Happy Polishing!! 😀

  1. I think the idea is cute but I would have liked to see maybe a different base color…maybe something a little more vibrant? I do like that lip stamp, though! Ohh….that stamp over a gradient would have been hot stuff.

    • Yeah exactly. That’s what I was thinking too. The base didn’t turn out how I wanted it so it was kinda lame. Oh well… next time. The stamp is pretty cool tho except I don’t think most people knew that they were lip prints till I told them. :-/

      • LOL Well, maybe if they were a little smaller? It’s so weird how so many people don’t know anything about nail art/stamping since it’s so “in” right now.

        • I know right!! People still don’t understand the stamps even after they’ve seen them in the mall. I don’t think my stamping is anything special but people are so impressed by it even when they know it’s just a stamp! I love it but I’m counting down the days till no one will be impressed anymore. :-/

          • Despite what other people may think, I feel that nail stuff is really kind of like an art. If it was so easy, everyone would do it. Plus, it takes creativity and a steady hand. There are people who can’t even paint their nails without getting polish on their knuckles so I think people will always be impressed.

            • That’s a good point. I just always think that if I can do it, anyone can! But you’re right, some people don’t even have the patience for it so I have the advantage there. When it comes to patience, that’s something I have plenty of. 🙂

  2. well.. i had a bachelorette like 1.5 months ago, and it has a theme.. i was supposed to go wearing shorts, heels and a pink top. I don’t like to wear shorts with heels and I do not have a decent pink top, because pink is not one of the best colors to wear with my yellow-pale skin color.. so i did my nails pink and I used my plates to stamp a kiss too hahaha.
are lips sort of the bachelorette official stamp?

I think I wouldn’t have used the glittered top coat..!

    • Yeah I definitely didn’t like the glitter on top but it was the second day so I didn’t care too much. Lips must be the official stamp!! Haha. I thought a theme would have been fun for the bachelorette party but not if it was shorts! I don’t ever wear shorts, only skirts and dresses (except to work I have some shorts I wear out of necessity) so I couldn’t follow that theme anyway. It would be fun tho to have some kind of color theme though that you could follow as little or as much as you wanted. Pink nails was a perfect idea! 🙂

  3. You put too much work into that base, lol! I think it’s perfectly OK, but agree that maybe a different base would have added a little oomph.
Ugh, I don’t ever wear shorts, either, but I do wear skirts and dresses a lot. I have one pair of athletic-type shorts that I bought on clearance last year specifically for a canoe trip I went on. I’ll sometimes wear those around the house if it is super-hot, but that is it.
Did you find the CG Fairy Dust at Sally’s?

    • Yes I found it in the regular stock at Sally’s. It’s been there all along and I didn’t even know it was this awesome!! 🙂

You are totally right- way too much effort into that base. Lesson learned! Also- I’m totally w you on the shorts. I have some knee-length shorts I wear to work cuz I have to, I have a pair like you’re talking about for around the house and other than that- it’s skirts and dresses all the way. I just don’t have the legs for shorts! Haha. And actually I never liked them much, even when I did. Speaking of that type of thing- you know what I kinda hate? Capris. They look ridiculous on me. My mom looks super cute in hers but on me- barf.

      • Ha, funny you mention capris! I used to like them (because I didn’t have to hem them, haha), but only with heels because I looked too stumpy without them (although that’s pretty much true in general for me), but now I’m like, nope! Pretty much just jeans or skirts/dresses for me.
And I agree, even when I could wear shorts, I still didn’t really dig them. I feel really old now when I look at this tween/teen girls is their SUPER SUPER short shorts and I’m like, yeah, you girls can wear them, but that just looks uncomfortable!
I should be getting my birthday Sally’s coupon soon. Fairy Dust, here I come!

        • Yeah I just hate how capris look on me. And I think I always had too big of a butt for short shorts, haha. Yay for birthday coupons!!! You can get Fairy Dust and depending on when your bday is (when exactly is it?) maybe you’ll find some other goodies there! That bohemian collection should be out now but it’s supposed to be super lame. 😦

          • It is Sunday, Aug. 5, so this weekend! I sent an email to my friends saying how it’s been the worst year of my life and I’d like to do something but they’re probably all busy, and my email was so pathetic they’re planning like a weekend-long fest for me, lol! It’s nice to have something to look forward to.

            • Yes. I know we’re going to an A’s game on Sunday, but Saturday is currently a surprise! I will fill y’all in and hopefully have some pics, too. I think I really need to get on the blog thing, lol.

              • You dooooo!!!! That would be so fun!! We could see pics of miss smooshy face snuggle poo (aka leeloo) and your nails and crazy food you are influenced to eat!! Have a good weekend and I can’t wait to hear all about it!! 😀
