Star Glitter!! Wet N Wild Fergie Hollywood Walk of Fame Swatch and Review

Good Morning Polished People!

There are so many awesome indie polishes out there. The thing I most like about indie polishes is the variety of glitter that the polish makers use. They use giant hexes, squares (which, by the way I would just about kill to get some square glitter, especially black and/or white square glitter), stars all kinds of shapes. I love them!! I don’t have any of those crazy glitter indies though so when I saw that Wet N Wild was releasing these Fergie glitters and there was a star glitter in the collection I just about peed my pants. I was on a mission to find this bad boy. I had to go to three Walgreens (they are apparently a Walgreens exclusive) to find this and when I did I grabbed two bottles. I also got the black and gold glitter, which I’ll show you all later. For today- let’s have a peek at this star glitter I got my hands on!

WnW Hollywood Walk of Fame

What you see is my Mrs. Robinson nails from yesterday, topped with one coat of Klean Color Chunky Holo Fuchsia for some added sparkle and then several coats of Hollywood Walk of Fame on top with Seche Vite dry fast top coat.

Color:

Hollywood Walk of Fame is multicolored glitter (red, light blue, silver, gold, lavender) with some sort holographic bar glitters in two widths in a clear base.

Formula/Application:

The application for Hollywood Walk of Fame can be a little rough. The glitters are a little hard to get onto your nail but with a little dabbing and some creative applying you can get plenty of the stars onto your nails. I applied it by inverting the bottle, then scooping plenty of stars up on the brush, wiping them off on the inside of the neck of the bottle (where they’re more accessible) and then using the brush again to pick which ever star or stars I want to apply to the nail. I repeated this for each nail. When I had the stars where I wanted them, I just dipped my brush into the bottle after it’d sat upright for a minute and picked up plenty of the clear base and used that to smooth out the stars a little before I applied my top coat. The base is pretty thick and takes a while to dry/harden but the Seche Vite really helped. If you didn’t have a good quick drying top coat it would probably stay soft forEVER.

Yes, Please! or No, Thank You:

I think the star glitters are cool and I’m glad to see some unique glitters in a drugstore brand so for that reason I give this a Yes, Please. That being said- I definitely didn’t need two bottles. 😦 I’m sure the base has to be thick to hold the glitters up so that didn’t bother me much, and I expected a tricky application with these big stars. The only problem I had with this polish is that it looked SOOO JUVENILE! I went to work wearing these nails today and of course all the kids loved it, but I seriously felt like a 7 year-old. If I wear this polish again, I’ll definitely put it over black and definitely not add any extra glitter because I’m into all kinds of nail art but nails that look like they belong to a first grader… not so much.

How do you like these nails? If didn’t know I was a grown woman, how old would you think the person wearing these nails would be? Let me know what you think and please don’t forget to check out my guest post on The Little Canvas today. πŸ˜€ Thank you all for reading and till next time- Happy Polishing!! πŸ˜€

  1. oh please, I’m 26 and I will wear star glitter.. hahaha
i agree with the black polish instead of a pink one, maybe i would use only star glitter in one or 2 nails, and the other i would use normal glitter..!

  2. This is super cute! yeah…who cares if it’s juvenile. We are juvenile…that’s what keeps us cool. lol At least your attempt to use this wasn’t a total fail like when I tried to do a jelly sandwich with this. hahaha…not that was horrible. I’m really liking that pink. You are brave for using Kleancolor…that’s all I’m gonna say about that.

    • Aww thanks. And you’re right… That’s why we are so dang cool! :p I thought you liked your star jelly sandwich? I wasn’t a HUGE fan (too chunky) but I didn’t think it was barf tastic. I think black would make a big difference on the age-appropriateness.

  3. what a fun polish! I can just imagine what it’s like getting the stars on…I think you did great! Haha I can just imagine the kids “ooooh”-ing over this! So cute!

    • Thanks. Yeah they were completely impressed. πŸ™‚ And you are also correct about application. It was a bit tricky but definitely doable. You’re definitely not gonna just stroke this on tho!

  4. I am conflicted about this star polish. I think everyone is most interested in this one from the Fergie polishes, but it seems like I’d be annoyed applying it. I feel like I’ll goop on way too much of the clear base & then it’ll get bubbly & never dry. This is not to say I still wouldn’t buy it despite reservations, haha.

    • Yeah exactly. You’re as bad as Cynthia! Haha. Jk to you both. πŸ™‚ It was annoying but if I loved the end result I wouldn’t have cared too much. As it is I don’t really see myself using it again except I would like to try it over black. So we’ll see.

  6. I think it looks beautiful and fun over pink! However, this polish was really problematic for me and I discuss it on my blog. I also linked back to this site because your pics are so great.

    • Aww thanks so much!! That’s one of the best compliments I can get. I appreciate that. I checked out your post and I really like the colors you chose! I like them a lot better than this pink. And you’re right that after like a day the corners are all foldy and messed up. That was a good point that I forgot to add because I wrote this the night that I used that polish. Thanks for the link ad for commenting!! πŸ™‚

  7. Hi i found that if you apply a clear base or nail hardener then apply the stars with a toothpick or like you said just dabbing them on it lookes really cute just on bare nails, i also found that if you use 2 coats of nail hardener as a top coat it holds the corners down better since its a little stronger then a regular top coat this was just my experience but i love the idea of the black base for a starry night effect. i dont know if this was helpful. thank you πŸ™‚ and i really like your blog. have a great day

    • Aww thanks so much!! And I’ll definitely try those tips next time I use that polish. I bet you’re right that a little different top coat might do the trick. πŸ™‚ Thanks! Have a good day too!

  8. Ohgurl. I am on the tail-end of age 27, I just found this polish a few days ago, and I have been wearing it since! WHO CARES!!! I admit that sometimes, it does feel a bit weird to wear super young and girly stuff (for instance, I personally feel uncomfortable wearing pigtails or bows in my hair), but I think that stars on nails is fun for everyone. Wear what you want when you want, though I do understand if it feels kind of …childish sometimes. :/ Which sucks, because I don’t see why cute things should seem off-limits after a certain age! 😦

    • Oh good heavens can I please tell you how horrified I am when I see like a 40 year-old woman with pigtails?!?! Hahaha. Anyway, back to your comment- thank you! I think I’ll try this over some black polish and see if I like the effect a little more. πŸ™‚ Over pink just wasn’t a good choice for me, especially since I. don’t. even. like. pink! Haha. You should check out a future post when me and Cynthia were talking about age-appropriate nail art then Cin chimed in and it was pretty interesting to hear what everyone thought. πŸ™‚ Thank for reading and commenting! πŸ˜€

  9. Thanks for the review of the Hollywood Walk Of Fame “starry” polish by Fergie! I thot I was the only one who found this difficult to handle, and , for someone – um – shall we say – over 50…yeah, it did look a bit like my grand-daughter’s polish! Oh Well…wanted it for the 4th of July anyway!

    • I never really thought about it for the 4th! That’s a good idea. And yeah- this polish was really a turd to work with. In the future if I use it again I will just pick some specific stars out like gleequins or something and use my dotting tool to place them exactly where I want them.
