Fun With Holos

Hey Everyone!

Today I want to share a little nail art I did with my favorite (and to be honest, only) linear holo polish- Layla Flash Black. I have never owned a polish like this and if you’re like me I highly recommend you pick it up. I thought it was a shame to alter it in any way, but I was also curious and let’s just say- if I was a cat I’d be dead! Haha.

Trippy Holo Stamping Art:

How To Get These Nails:

  1. Make sure your nails are buffed and smooth. I recommend you just buy a regular old Ulta 4 way nail buffer, but you can buy the Layla one if you prefer.
  2. Apply 2-3 coats of Flash Black.
  3. Apply 1 coat of Seche Vite, allow to dry thoroughly before stamping.
  4. Use RA stamp 114 and Konad Special Black polish to stamp the design on each nail.
  5. Top with topcoat and you’re done!! 🙂

The stamp definitely blocked some of the linear holo goodness, but overall I thought this looked kinda cool. I only wore it for a little while, but that doesn’t mean much either way. Haha. Sometimes I’ll wear some nails I don’t even like just because I have too much prep work to do for work and not enough time, and then other times I’ll end up wearing nails that I really love only for a day because I think of something else to do. Right now I really need to get busy and do a gradient but I just keep finding other things to do! I recently got some WnW LE Coloricon polishes (aka galaxy nails in a bottle!) and I’ve been busy playing with them. 🙂 Also- the weather here has been fantastic so I’ve been spending more time outside which makes me more tired and therefore cuts into my late-night blogging. I swear my creative juices don’t even get flowing till midnight!! 😉

Do you feel I have committed holo polish murder by covering this with a stamp? Are any of you just itching to get the new Bundle Monster stamps that should be coming out any day now? I really want them, but also might be a little broke cuz Memorial Day Camping is coming right up. We’ll see. Anyway, till next time- Happy Polishing!!! 😀

  1. Normally I would say you committed lacquercide but this looks really great because the stamp is all geometric and fragmented. I love it. I was going to get this one today but I ended up buying Ocean Rush instead. I’m sure I’ll eventually get Flash Back because it’s too pretty not to have. I have some amazon gift cards that are burning a hole in my pocket so I am going to get some plates but don’t know if I should get BM or RA…or if there are other better ones. Ghhhaaaaaaaaa!

    • Thanks for giving me the pardon! 🙂 I don’t think you can go wrong with these Layla polishes. They’re all do strongly holo!! Flash Black is a staple kinda color tho so you’ll be happy you have it. I can’t wait to see the one you got! And I can’t believe those gift cards are still unused! Mine are gone practically as soon as I even LOOK at my phone. My Amazon app pops up and with one click ordering- click click click- EMPTY! Haha. I do like the RA plates but the BM ones are a little better quality. I wanna get the new ones when they’re released! They looked playful and fun. Just like me. ;p

  2. I think this stamp goes so well with the holo! It has a sort of 3D effect? Not sure how to describe it lol. I really like the way it looks!
omg I’m the same way sometimes! It’s like you go through the whole process of doing your nails and you end up wearing it for a while and you want to do something else so you change it…fun! 😀

    • Ugh that’s the biggest problem. All my ideas come in spurts so I feel like I’m wearing all my best nails for like a week straight (one design a day) and then I’m boring and just wear whatever I’m swatching for a couple days in a row. How annoying! Haha. And thanks! I thought for a stamp over holo polish, this was a pretty decent stamp. 🙂 I’m glad you thought it looked ok. 😉
