Hello there all my nail polish friends!!
There are quite a few neons coming out lately. China Glaze is coming out with their Summer Neons any day now, Orly has their Feel the Vibe collection, Finger Paints just came out with their new neon collection and I’m sure there are plenty more that I’m failing to notice or remember. I hate neons sometime because their application can be such a nightmare (remember those undies, people, see my post here if you don’t know about that), but really, I LOVE neons for their brightness. Well, I love them when they’re true neons and ARE super bright. This one…. well… just look and I’ll tell you about it later.
Finger Paints Inkblot Blue:
Color:
Inkblot Blue is a really pretty blue. It’s a bright medium blue when it dries. It does dry darker than it looks in the bottle (see photo below) but it’s nice and pretty. It makes me think of a perfect blueberry color. The problem I have with it is that it does not have that blue highlighter, nearly glow in the dark, retina-searing neon quality that I like. I want my neon polish to not just catch someone’s eye, but command attention and kick em in the shins if they fail to notice it. And this polish, being very pretty, just doesn’t have that aggressively bright quality.
Notice on my middle finger you can see the stroke of polish that is light, and the darker, dried polish to the right of it.
Formula/Application:
The application of this polish was just fine. It went on smoothly although with a neon you have to be a little careful to avoid dragging and this is no exception. I did feel like the wear on this polish left a little to be desired though. I wore it for 2 days and on the second day it was pretty tore up. I don’t really care cuz I was ready to change it anyway, but for some of you who DON’T obsessively change your nail polish almost every night… you may want to know that. 🙂 Neons do dry satiny as you’ll see in the photo below so make sure you wear your topcoat!
Practice safe polishing- always wear a topcoat.

I have enough blues so this isn’t a must-have for me since it’s not neon enough. That being said- it’s really pretty so if you’re a real blue lover, you might want to pick this up. If you’re looking for a neon like the ones in my head you can politely decline like me and say, “No, thank you.”
Let me know if you have a real neon-riffic blue for me to try out. I really would like a super-bright blue but I’m starting to think the only neon colors bright enough to meet my expectations are yellows, oranges and greens. This one didn’t grab my attention. It’s nice but it’s not Have you tried CG Towel Boy-Toy or Blue Sparrow? Those are two really awesome blues. For a good neon pink, have you tried CG Pool Party? I think that’s the most obnoxious pink I’ve seen in a long time.
I’ll have to check out pool party… or their new neon when they’re out. An “obnoxious pink” is exactly what I’m looking for 🙂 Is towel boy toy a neon? I’d like a good neon blue for sure.
So this is the one…ugh such a let down! It really is a nice blue, but as for it being a neon…such a fail 😦 lol

Hopefully it’s not too expensive there, cuz it’s cheap here. I do like this color a lot… Just not for a neon! 🙂 Sooo pretty tho! 😉
