Good Morning Polished People!
Today I have two kinds of sandwiches for you. Hope you’re hungry! (har, har *corny laugh*) I have a glitter sandwich and a pattern sandwich. In case any of you don’t know, a glitter sandwich, aka a jelly sandwich, is when you layer glitter (or in the case of the pattern sandwich, a pattern [either stamped or free-handed]) in between layers of a jelly polish. Jelly polishes are sheer so they allow the glitter or pattern to show through a little. When you alternate layers of glitter it can create a really pretty look with lots of depth. It takes a little playing around but you can get some really cool looks with jelly polish. First up is my glitter sandwich-
Royal Glitter Sandwich:
You will probably need to click and enlarge this picture to see the glowy nature of the glitter inside the jelly. These nails are 2 coats of Revlon Royal with a coat of OPI Gettin Miss Piggy With It on top and a final coat of Royal over the glitter. The red glitter didn’t shine through like I was hoping, but it did darken the polish some and made the large hex glitter extra bright when it showed through. If I do this again, I’ll use something with all light glitter- maybe OPI Servin Up Sparkle. That would probably look awesome!
The other kind of sandwich you can do is with a contrasting color of polish. For the next nails I used white to paint a pattern on top of 2 layers of Royal before applying a final layer of Royal. It gave an interesting effect that you can only fully appreciate in real life.
Pattern Sandwich:
Didn’t they turn out cool?? And all I did was use my new striping brush to paint the crisscross design on using China Glaze White on White. Here’s what they looked like before the final coat of Royal:
This was my first attempt at free-handinganything so I was pretty proud of this by itself. It’s not perfect of course, but it was waaayyyy better than I thought I could do! š And applying the jelly polish over it really covers up any imperfections and you get pretty nails like this:
It was really fun to experiment with Royal and with my new striping brushes. Hopefully I’ll get better and be able to try a little more free-handed nail art. Some of you out there do the most fantastic things… I have a lot of practice to do š
Let me know what you think of these nails, glitter and/or pattern sandwiches and anything else exciting going down with you! I’m really on the look-out for some good square glitter polish, so if anyone has a suggestions- share away!! š Thanks for reading! Till next time, Happy Polishing!
super cute! Love them both!
Thanks so much! I’m loving Royal. š
This looks Soooooo cool! Haha. I tried a glitter sandwich for the first time (post coming soon hehe) but I don’t know if I’ve seen this kind before! I love it!!
I can’t wait to see yours! š I don’t know that I’ve ever seen this kind either- I kinda just made it up. Haha. Glad you like it! š
