Proper Review of Revlon Royal :)

Hey Everyone,

Today I want to show you Revlon Royal properly and tell you how it’s opened my mind a little to drugstore polishes 🙂 I normally don’t buy a lot of drugstore brand nail polishes. I’ll buy some Sally Hansen Insta-Dri and occasionally a Wet n Wild, but I never search the Cover Girl, Revlon, Loreal, etc displays for polish. I guess I’m just a snob. I always figure they’re gonna be thin and boring and the glitter’s gonna be sparse and pathetic. And- what’s up with all those brands using bottles circa 1995. I mean goodness gracious, the Revlon bottles look like the dang space station or something. Anyway, so many people have said how wonderful Revlon Royal is, and when I asked everyone on Twitter about a good jelly polish it kept coming up. So… naturally I had to buy it!

Revlon Royal:

Color:

Revlon Royal is (slap yourself if you’re surprised!) a nice royal blue. It’s pretty bright in the bottle and in the sunlight. The picture you see here is on an overcast day so it’s slightly more muted than it needs to be. It’s the perfect blue color. So beautiful.

Formula/Application:

Royal is a nice syrupy jelly formula that dries incredibly fast and also incredibly shiny! It’s sheer of course so you need at least 2 coats, I like 3, but it is absolutely stunning worn alone with a little topcoat. It goes on smooth, builds perfectly and is not runny at all. It’s much more opaque than some of my Sinful Colors jelly polishes, and covers a little more like a creme than a jelly but is still sheer enough for sandwiches. 🙂

Yes, Please! or No, Thank You:

Yes, Please! It’s ridiculous that I waited so long to get this polish. It’s cheap, readily available and useful for so many applications. It’s great on its own, perfect for sandwiches… I just love it. Keep and eye out tomorrow for a sandwich made with this polish. 🙂

Do you have this polish? Are you someone who searches the drugstore brands or do you stick with OPI, China Glaze, Orly, etc that you mostly have to find at a specialty beauty store? Or maybe you’re into the indie polishes and stalk Etsy shops! Let me know what your favorite (still available) drugstore polish is… you know I’m always looking for suggestions!! As always, thanks so much for reading and till next time- Happy Polishing!!!

  1. I own a trillion bottles of Revlon Royal for fear of running out! I love it! Awesome review and swatch. Next time you’re picking up Milk or Aspirin at your drugstore, don’t f

    • Oh no, it cut your comment off. Ruuude!! If you were gonna say don’t forget to pick up a backup bottle I won’t! I can’t believe how great it is for the price! Thanks for reading an commenting and helping with the striped nails’ name. The name’s a hit. 🙂

  2. So nice to hear about this polish 🙂 I usually don’t buy drug store brands either, but these Revlon polishes seem to be a hit! I always look at them at Target, but still haven’t tried them!

    • Ulta has all the drugstore brands b2g1 free so I think I’m going to give a few more a try. Hopefully they’ll be okay! Royal is great though, I definitely recommend it!

    • Thanks! I’m kinda sarcastic in real life so I always wonder if it comes across or if I just sound weird. Haha. Either way it’s appropriate 😉

  3. I think this is a great color. I buy mostly salon brands but I’m not against buying drugstore polishes. I just like to hear feedback from people first because most Revlon polishes I have tried are runny and gross.

    • That’s what everyone says! I am going to try a couple more I think… maybe that whimsical you were talking about… and see how they are. Hopefully they’re okay!

Commenting is Caring!! ;D
