Summer Nails- Orange and Pink

Hello There Polished People!

It’s no secret that my favorite color is orange. It’s also not a huge secret that I don’t particularly love pink nail polish. It’s not that I don’t like the color pink- I’m wearing a pink shirt right now! I like pink. I just don’t gravitate towards pink nail polish I guess because I’ve worn plenty of pink in my lifetime. It seems like for a long time pink or red (or a variation of one or the other) were the only choices for nails. You could find a blue polish or a purple wet n wild nail polish (which is what I had) but no one really wore nail polish seriously except for pink or red. Thank GOODNESS times have changed!! 😀 I find it ridiculous that some offices don’t allow bright nail polish. More on that in a later post.

I do appreciate the memories that pink nail polish brings up for me. When my grandma was living, she used to go get her nails done every week. She’d go to the beauty shop and get her hair done and then get her nails filled and painted PINK! I don’t know if she ever wore red, but what I remember is pink pink pink. She had a little box of all her pink OPI nail polishes that I suppose she kept in case she got a chip, and now I have some of her nail polishes. She passed away quite a while ago, but we all know nail polish never goes bad (we do know that, right??) so I still use them from time to time. Anyway, the moral of this story is that I don’t always like to wear pink but I still have a little spot in my heart for it 🙂 That being said, I love it paired with orange! And since I love orange and pink together, I loved today’s nails. Let’s have a look!

Orange and Pink Summer Nails:

This is just a cool picture I put together with my new phone before it went belly up on me (hopefully by the time this posts it’ll be fixed, cuz I am NOT happy!). I don’t really want to watermark my pictures, and I don’t plan on doing it to all (or maybe any) but I was playing with the text feature in this app and tried it out. Do you think watermarking is tacky or appropriate? If you have a blog/tumblr/etc do you watermark?

I wanted to post this picture as well to show the stamping, even though it’s a little blurry. I didn’t take enough pictures of these nails so I’m sorry the pics kinda suck. I usually take a TON and then edit and sift through all of them but for whatever reason I was lazy with these which is really too bad cuz I love them!

What’s On My Nails:

  1. Essie Feed Me basecoat
  2. 3 coats of OPI Pink Friday
  3. Stamping using RA112 and SH Snappy Sorbet (which I got from my brother and his fiancee for my bday! :))
  4. Seche Vite
  5. SH Mega Shine

Let me know what you think about pink nails, these nails and watermarking photos. Also I’d like to know if you guys have a color that you just really don’t love on your nails. Thanks for reading and commenting and till next time- Happy Polishing!

  1. Loving this mani 🙂 I like pink, but I don’t always reach for it when painting my nails. Some pinks look weird with my skin tone. I’ve really been loving Essie’s Knockout Pout lately though. It’s almost a neon color to me and that’s what I’ve been loving about it. As for watermarking photos. I like to do just in case someone posts it as theirs somewhere else or something. When I first started posting pictures, I didn’t watermark, but I was browsing tumblr for nail art and nail related posts and I found some of my pics and I got a little weirded out that someone would post it under them, so I started watermarking my pics.

    • No one’s ever stolen my pics so I guess I need to step it up! Haha. Seriously tho idk if I’ll watermark or not. But I totally get why people do, of course! 🙂 What annoys me are the people who go SEARCHING to see if people’s images have been stolen and then have a cow about it all day, cuz I mean all you can do is watermark so the credit is yours… if you put your pictures on the internet you’ve gotta know it could happen. I don’t mean that comment towards you and since we follow some of the same ppl on twitter you might even know who I’m talking about. Save the drama for your mama!! Right?? Haha.

  2. I freaking hate watermarked pictures! It takes so much away from the actual picture, but I totally understand why people do it. Doing my nails and photographing them takes a long time so it’s like a slap in the face when someone just steals your images. Not to mention the time we spend editing pictures and writing up our posts. Anyway, yeah…it sucks when that happens but I don’t anticipate that I will watermark any of my images.

That was such a nice story about your grandma. I only have one grandparent left, my grandma on my mom’s side, and she turned 98 today. It’s so cool to think that she lived through so much: both world wars! I just find that amazing.

To tell you the truth, I never really thought of combining orange and pink and it looks nice. Of course I love the stamp!

    • Yeah I’m in the same boat as you but I do think clever semi hidden watermarks are cool and not too tacky. When they go over the whole image tho it’s like “REALLY?! How are we supposed to see the nails?!” haha.

Commenting is Caring!! ;D
