Good Morning!!
First off I’d like to say thank you to the people who have answered questions in my polls so far. I really appreciate it and will seriously try to work on the suggestions you gave me. Some things may be a little beyond my control/budget (better camera) but there are always things I can try to do a better job, so I sincerely appreciate it. π Now…. today’s polishes-
Agro:
Color:
Agro represents District 11, the agriculture district. Rue (if you’ve read the books, you HAVE, right?!?!) was from District 11 and the song she teaches Katniss to signal they’re ok at the end of the day is the song the people from D11 sang at the end of their days in the fields. Thinking of Rue makes me sad cuz she was basically Katniss’ Prim-stand-in and… well, in case you haven’t read the books I wont TOTALLY ruin it for you. Anyway, this is a mossy green with gold shimmer. It reminds me a lot of that Borghese Euro Green that I recently reviewed. I love these colors! I’d have to re-swatch them both to know for sure but I think Agro is just a touch brighter than Euro Green. They’re both awesome colors though, very antique-looking which I love.
Formula/ Application:
Non-problematic. A little sheer on the first coat, but perfect after the second. I like multiple coats, so I added a third but you wouldn’t need to. It dries a little dull though so you definitely want some Seche Vite to shine that baby up! π
Yes, Please! or No, Thank You:
Yes, Please for green polish lovers everywhere!!! π

Smoke And Ashes:
Color:
Smoke And Ashes does NOT photograph well, so please excuse the crappy crappy pictures. The bottom picture is in sunlight through my window, and the top is with flash. NOTHING would capture this polish appropriately! In the bottle this polish is a black base with itsy-bitsy blue-green microglitter. In the bottle there is a slight bit of purple towards the bottom which made me REALLY excited that this was going to have a bit of duochromey goodness, but unfortunately that didn’t pan out. Even still, Smoke And Ashes is a SUPER pretty polish!!!! The blue-green glitter shimmers in the light and is subtle but just awesome! It’s much like Lubu Heels that I used in my Blazer nail art only instead of red microglitter in black, it’s blue-green. So pretty! Please go see this for yourself at a Sally’s or perhaps an Ulta near you. Smoke And Ashes reps Katniss and Peeta’s district, the mining district.
Formula/ Application:
The formula was non-problematic. Just like Agro it was a little sheer in one coat, but built up perfectly.
Yes, Please! or No, Thank You:
If you look at my pictures you’re probably like “Ehhh… it’s dark, the least bit sparkly… I can live without it.” But remember- my pictures LIE!!! They’re dishonest and lazy at picking up the sparkle and just can not be trusted today. You have to see this for yourself cuz there’s a great chance you’ll decide you wont be able to live without it when you do. π Plus, it’s from Katniss and Peeta’s district… you don’t wanna have that missing from your collection, do you? Oh- am I the only one that thinks that way? I can’t be! π This polish is a Yes, Please!
There are only two more polishes (that I bought) to go… how are you liking the Hunger Games polishes so far? Which ones have you bought? Also- does anyone ever go buy polishes and then check out reviews of them? I do that all the time. I’ll find something and be like “Oh, this is awesome!!” and then come home and google it or search it on my favorite blogs and read what they say about it… even though I already have it. Strange….? Could be! As always, thanks for reading and Happy Polishing!!
Oh I should have ordered Agro too! I can see how smoke and ashes could be hard to capture on camera, but the best ones usually are camera shy.
Time to place another order! Haha. π And yes, little subtleties are often what make a polish special and OF COURSE those don’t translate well on camera. Maybe if I had a $500+ camera it’d be better but I’m not even sure about that. Oh well- gotta see it to believe it! π Thanks for commenting. π
I LOVE Agro! I just got it, I am doing the 30 day challenge so I haven’t gotten chance to try it out yet ! I love that swatch though, I may have to put this on my toes π
Oh awesome!!! I’m so jealous. I’ve been trying to mentally prepare myself to do it, too. Are you doing it with a group or by yourself? I’m checking your blog out pronto!! π
I am not in a group. but I know that http://naturallybeautifulbelle.wordpress.com/category/nails/ is doing it as well and is close to my days
http://thenewlime.wordpress.com/ Also this is another blog that I follow and she is doing the 30 week challenge rather than every day or every couple like mine.
ooh forgot one more, anoter blog I follow : http://mymanymanicures.wordpress.com/2012/03/05/day-8-metallic-nails/
Thanks for all the info!! I love the 30 day challenge nail designs! It’s nice that the one person is doing it weekly (it’d be a little more manageable that way) but I prefer every day or so just cuz that’s kinda keeping with the whole “challenge”. Very cool tho! Thanks again. I can’t wait to check em all out. Maybe next month I’ll do the challenge… π
Well Good luck if you do. I am doing every couple of days as soon as they chip thats how often I usually get bored anyway 2-3 days π
Thanks! That sounds like a great idea. It actually allows you to wear em but still keeps the excitement of a new nail design almost every day. π Good for you! π
AHHH!! I love Smoke and Ashes! That was another one I really wanted and couldnt find….damn you Sallys for not keeping your polishes well stocked!
It is quite awesome! Black yet blue/green-y with the glitter. Hopefully they’ll get it back in stock. My Sally’s is bad like that- they have what seems like 3 of each and then no more. π¦ Thank goodness for online shopping- as long as they don’t jack the prices up!
I am a HUGE green fan, especially with glitter and sparkles.
Me too! I seem to be on a major blue and/or green kick. I actually love any color polish (except red for the most part) but I just love greens of all kinds especially. π
