Moon Mani Goes Nautical (mini-post)

So last time I showed you a moon mani inspired by the Spring 2012 nail trends from Fashion week. Today, I’m going to show you how to spend 2 minutes and turn your moon mani into a nautical/racing stripe mani which is also hot for Spring. 🙂

This is a moon mani done with OPI Samoan Sand, SH Diamond Shine Diamonds and Ulta Moody Blues. As you can see on the Refinery29 website, slightly Nautical/Racing Stripe looks are in as well. All you need is a white nail art pen or striper and boom! you switched trends in almost no time at all.

  

Now, you will see that my hand is not at ALL steady, and therefore this mani turned out terrible for me. I just can’t draw a straight line with my nail art pens. Hopefully this turns out better for you! If I did this again, I would tape off my nails except for a diagonal stripe and do it that way. Then my nautical nails would be straight and wearable. I saw a checkered mani where someone used a glitter striper to put glitter along the lines between the different colors of polishes, so I thought maybe if I covered the wiggly line with a little coat of glitter it would mask the wavy-ness, but as you’ll see in the next picture… no such luck.

Oh well, even if I can’t draw a straight line to save my life, it doesn’t mean that you can’t!! 😀 Try this look and tell me how it worked out for you!
