I think this will be my last accent nail post. I’ve just about beat this dead horse, haha. You get the point, right? I’d like to move on to some Spring 2012 trends after this, so we’ll see what I come up with next. 🙂 Today’s accent nail look is with OPI Grape Set Match on 9 nails, SH Xtreme Wear Celeb City as a base color for the glitter on the accent nail, and the glitter is OPI Servin Up Sparkle.
What you need:
- Base coat (I use SH Hard As Nails)
- OPI Grape, Set, Match
- Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Celeb City
- OPI Servin’ Up Sparkle
- Top coat of your choosing. I used SHMS (Sally Hansen Mega Shine)
How to get this look:
- Apply your base coat.
- Paint 9 nails with Grape, Set, Match. I used 2 coats to achieve opacity.
- Paint the accent nail with 1-2 coats of SH Xtreme Wear Celeb City.
- Allow nails to dry slightly.
- Apply 2 coats of Servin’ Up Sparkle to the accent nail.
- Apply a coat of SHMS or your favorite top coat and ta-daaa! You’re done! 🙂
I really liked this accent nail look. I wore it to work for a few days this week and I will definitely wear this, or some version of this, again. One thing I actually kind of like about the accent nail trend is that some people just don’t get it, haha. I had one of my students (4th grade male, so who can really blame him?) say to me while I was showing him how to work out a math problem, “Hey… that nail’s silver… what the HECK?!” as if maybe my one nail had magically changed from purple to silver in front of his very eyes. The fact that it’s unexpected is what makes it a bit of an attention-getter. 🙂
A Quick Comment On These Polishes:
Grape, Set, Match is a super pretty purple shimmer polish with pink and blue micro glitter. This is a perfect purple in my opinion and I’ll definitely wear it again by itself and as a base for some of my glitter polishes. Servin’ Up Sparkle was a different story. As you can tell by how thick I had to make the 2 coats of this glitter, it is not very densely packed. Servin’ Up Sparkle is probably the most sparsely packed OPI glitter I own. In the bottle, and due to the fact that it’s a micro and large hex holo glitter polish you’d think this polish would shine like a holographic diamond… but it’s quite lackluster. I did use a silver foil base color, so maybe that was my problem, but whatever the reason I found this polish very disappointing. I’ve heard there are 2 formulas of Servin’ Up Sparkle, so maybe I got the bad one, but whatever the reason, this is kind of a dud of a glitter if you ask me. It would work well as a top coat, but I don’t know if you’d ever reach opacity with this polish. Sad. 😦

Hey! Quick question that’s entirely off topic. Do you know how to
make your site mobile friendly? My weblog looks weird when viewing from
my iphone. I’m trying to find a theme or plugin that
might be able to correct this issue. If you have any recommendations, please share.
Appreciate it!
