Hey There Polished People!
For today’s nails I got to try something I’ve been wanting to try for quite some time. I have seen lots of ikat nails, mainly those turquoise and orange/coral ones that everyone seems to recreate, and I’ve always wanted to try them. I have been planning to do these for “Inspired by a pattern day” forever so yayyyy here we go!
Ikat Pattern Nails
How To Get These Nails:
- Base coat.
- Paint your nails with Essence Break Through.

- Use ChG White On White to make white plus-sign/cross designs where you want the designs to be.

- Use ChG Aquadelic to make smaller plus-sign/crosses over the white. Try to leave more exposed than I did.

- Using a black striper, make black dashes all around the blue and white crosses in a jagged diamond pattern. Add a few dashes in the middle of the diamond as well.

- Apply topcoat (I use Seche Vite) and show your friends!!

Here’s a quick picture tutorial that you can look at and maybe like pin on Pinterest or share elsewhere?

Have you tried ikat nails? Are you even a fan of them, let alone mine? Let me know what you think in the comments below. As always thanks for reading and till next time- Happy Polishing!!

I love these – great colour combo!
I’ve seen ikat nails everywhere but what is ikat??
Thank you!! I googled ikat before I did these cuz I was like what the heck is ikat anyway?! The word comes from an Indonesian word, mengikat which is a way of dying fabric to get certain designs. It’s similar to tie dying I guess but obviously had a difference effect. I don’t know how to do it on actual fabric or anything, I just read about it online.
Thanks for reading and commenting!
Never tried but REALLY like yours!!!!
Thank you!
You should give em a go!
Absolutely gorgeous!! I love the colors and I love how you showed it step by step!
Thank you so much!! I try to remember to take pictures along the way even thought the lighting is bad where I do my nails. It’s fun showing everyone how its done.
I like how these came out and the colors go great together. There is something about ikats that makes me think of ghosts so I probably wouldn’t do them on myself.
Right after clicking the post comment button, I realized that is probably the weirdest comment ever.
Hey, you’re a weird one! What can I say? ;p
hahaha…thanks.
You watch scary movies, and have since you were little, but yet you wouldn’t to ikats cuz they’re ghost-shaped??
haha…told you it was random and very weird–but true.
i’ve always wanted to do these nails..!
Give em a try! They were much easier than I anticipated.
i will..! i’ll tag you once I do this..
Awesome.
I love them! I think they turned out amazing! They seem fairly simple, too – the final look appears like it would be much more complex than how you achieved them. I don’t think I’ve seen this pattern on nails before!
I like your base color a lot…and your color combo in general!
I see the pattern of a skirt that I own (an ikat print skirt, duh)…and Cynthia sees ghosts, haha. At least she is honest!
Hey different strokes for different folks! Haha. Yeah these were so much easier than I thought they were gonna be! And thanks about the color combo and everything. I LOVE that purple. It’s so bright and pretty and definitely purple.
I bet your skirt is cute!!
