Wild and Sparkly Blue Stripes

Hey There Everyone!

Sometimes when I do nail art (which is every day! haha) I paint my nails with the base color and then between the time I do the base color and the nail art I think of another idea to do with the colors I’m about to use. Sometimes I just change my plan and do the new idea, sometimes I stick with the original idea and then on some special times I do both ideas… one on each hand!! I’d like to say, “It’s ok because they’re matching colors” but the truth is sometimes I paint my two hands COMPLETELY differently. I never leave a hand bare, but I do sometimes find that I have two ideas and want to try them both so I do each of them on a different hand. Then I either don’t want to take the time to redo one hand OR I want to get pictures of them the next day in the sunlight so I just leave them, and then wear them out and about the next day cuz I’m not gonna have the time to re-do them mid-day. Now, when I work I don’t leave my hands different, but on days where I’m just running around town- I absolutely do. Is that weird? Maybe. Do I get confused comments? Almost never; they just compliment the hand they see. Does it serve a purpose? Yes. Am I going to start a trend? You never know!! 😉

The nails I’m sharing today were on my left hand on the day we did nails inspired by polka dots. They use the same colors but are done using a slightly different technique  They’re a little weird but they were cool enough. Plus, since the colors were the same and the technique similar no one even noticed. 🙂 Here they are!

Wild and Sparkly Blue Stripes

How To Get These Nails:

  1. Apply your favorite base coat. I like SH Hard As Nails.
  2. Paint your nails with Sation Rock A Guy Blue. You could get away with one coat if you’re careful. I used two or three, I don’t remember.
  3. Paint half of your nails on a diagonal (some people call this a Spanish French, which I love!!) with Orly Angel Eyes. I used two coats to make it nice and opaque.
  4. Using a striping brush, paint stripes of Rock A Guy Blue across the dark blue section into the Angel Eyes section. Leave a little room between stripes.
  5. Using the striping brush again, paint stripes of Angel Eyes from its own side over into the dark blue side in between  each stripe of Rock A Guy Blue.
  6. Give your stripes a few minutes to dry completely, then apply a coat of Seche Vite. 😀
  7. Ta-daaaa!

Don’t these kind of look like piano keys? Or some crazy zebra, maybe? I don’t know what they really look like but I like ’em! They’re kinda cool and different looking. Next time I’ll leave less space between the stripes so it looks more jagged. I don’t honestly think you can go wrong with these two colors though. Do you ever paint your hands with two different designs or colors? Let me know so I don’t feel so weird…. or I guess so I can feel weirdER! Haha. As always thanks for reading and till next time- Happy Polishing!! 😀

  1. Yesterday I brought out a lot of polishes and a nail wheel. Then I thought, f- it, Ima gonna just paint my nails instead. So I have no problem using my nails as nail wheels, each different, as long as I pick from a harmonious group of colors.

    • Haha yay!! Good for you! I knew I couldn’t be the only one! Although doing each nail kinda different is like skittles so maybe I’m still weird having 2 different full hands. Haha.

  2. I don’t know if they are piano keys or crazy zebra stripes, but I do know that they are AWESOME!
I don’t wear two different manicures on each hand, but I think this is probably quite common among bloggers!

    • Yeah I bet you’re right. For NORMAL people why would you? Haha. But for those that are abnormal like me… I guess it’s probably common. Sometimes I just don’t want to do a design on both hands because I don’t like it enough and/or I just wanna try something else. 🙂 Thank you though! I’m glad you think these look cool though. I really did! 🙂

  3. I think they look kinda wild in a good way…kind of like when someone is running in a cartoon and you see the air swoosh! I think this is all crack talk cause I’m tired but I can’t fall asleep. hahaha I love your combo of colors here. Ugh…you are making me want to use Angel Eyes real bad but I have like a whole bunch of other posts I have to get through. I am being really serious about clearing out my stash and also using all my untrieds.

    • I can tell you are being so methodical about diminishing your stash and getting through your untrieds. You must be having a bit of a “what does this all mean?!?!?” moment like I am. Don’t get me wrong, I’ll probably never stop painting my nails but sometimes I have this wave of patheticness about how excited it makes me. We’ve talked about that tho. Haha. Angel Eyes will be there when you get to it. And also- that did doing like some crack talk- but I understand cuz for the last two says I’ve got like 3 hours of sleep a night so I’m right there with you. I still have to shower and then get to bed only to wake up early, pack and leave for 5 days in the wilderness. You know what the good thing is tho? I don’t even have to really get dressed nicely or wear makeup for all those days. I don’t think I’ll even put any on tomorrow! Does that make me a bum??

      • Heck no! Enjoy your 5 days of bliss. I am not a person who would enjoy nature/wilderness so it sounds a little scary to me. lol

Yes, I am definitely going through some polish shame right now. Maybe it’s not only polish shame but just all the silliness that goes on in the blogging world is just getting to me. In the grand scheme of things, is nail polish that important? Of course not. I still enjoy nail polish a lot and I probably always will but I don’t want to be associated with some of the drama that goes around. You know that I pretty much stay out of everything because then I just wouldn’t have fun anymore. And the biggest revelation was when I had to play almost $1,000 to repair my car and I looked at my stash and thought–I could have made a down payment on a new car with all the money I spent on this stuff. hahahaha

        • I NEVER went camping before meeting Daniel. My dad said, QUOTE “Our idea of camping is Motel 8” haha. However Daniel and I have a trailer now so I’m quite the prissy camper. Don’t worry- I will not be roughing it… well the only thing rough will be how my face looks! Ha! :p

I absolutely completely agree with everything you said. That’s what I meant to say but didn’t. It’s the drama and people taking things too seriously that makes me feel caught up in it all and like I’m just like them. Amen. 🙂
