Are You Ready For Some Footbaaaaaaaaalllllll Nails?

Hey There Polished People!

Me and my lovely and spunky friend Ryan from Nail’d In The South have “teamed” up to bring you a football nails mini-series. Have you ever been picking your outfit out for the big game but didn’t know what to do with your nails? Do you want to show some team spirit but don’t want to paint your face up like a maniac? Do you love tailgating and looking festive? Do you wanna see our awesome nails anyway? If you answered yes to any of those questions, we are here to help!! For college football, I’m a fan of the Oregon Ducks, and Ryan is a fan of the Arkansas Razorbacks. As luck would have it, we BOTH are fans of the New Orleans Saints when it comes to NFL teams. What’s your team? Today we are both going to show you our college football nails. Each Friday, just in time for game day, for the next 4 weeks we’ll show you different football nails. Here’s a breakdown of what you’ll see:

Oct. 12: College Football Nails

Oct. 19: Pro Football Nails

Oct. 26: Team Swap/ Guest Post (Ryan does Ducks Nails here, I do Hogs Nails there)

Nov. 2: High School Football Nails

Nov. 9: General Football Nails

Hopefully we’ll give you some inspiration for what to do for your own teams (just switch the colors!) and show you some fun nails in the process. Shall we get to the first installment? 🙂

Oregon Ducks Nails

How To Get These Football Nails:

  1. Base coat.
  2. Paint your nails with 3-4 coats of ChG Sunshine Pop.
  3. Apply a coat of Seche Vite and allow to dry.
  4. Use Ulta The Jungle Look and a striping brush to paint one thick and one thin line towards the free edge of your nails.
  5. Use a short bristled nail art brush (I cut down an old striper) or a toothpick to draw the O with the same polish.
  6. When your O is done, use SH Celeb City (silver) to outline the O using a toothpick or a short bristled brush.
  7. When all the green and silver polish is dry, apply a coat of Seche Vite.
  8. Pack up that cooler and head to the tailgate!! 😀

  1. i like your nails!!! i think it is funny how for the americans football is that sport, but for us football (is the same pronunciation) is soccer.. and TODAY I have soccer nails on my blog! how weird is that!! I don’t watch football (your football) because as weird as it is, my husband doesn’t like to watch sports on tv, so I don’t have to do it.. but I used to have a bf that lived in the US for a while and he was all about that football.. I used to support the green bay packers, just because I liked the color of the uniform (how lame is that, i was 17..) LOL.

    • Thank you! Yeah football I guess is just an American thing but its super big here as you know. How did you meet your bf that lived in the US? That’s a bit of a distance!

      • well.. he was panamanian.. and many years ago, in the 89, his mum had to move to the US because she was a political refugee.. then, like maybe in the 00′ or 01, he moved back to panama, and i met him on 2003.. we dated for 2 years and one year later i met my husband..!

  2. Taking on the 31-day challenge and football nails simultaneously, I see!
I like the Philadelphia Eagles because my dad was from Philly. Not a huge follower, although I prefer watching football over most other sports. To be honest, I check scores every week to keep current so that I can hold my own with my mostly male customers! Only the NFL, though…I’m a total loss at college.
I’ve never done my nails for a sporting event, but again, I don’t go to that many! Your look rather appropriate and team-spirit-y!

    • Thank you! Yeah I honestly don’t follow any football that much but my husband knows like every stat of every team of every sport so I learn a little just by osmosis. 🙂 I’m totally like you, when I was in college and stuff I would listen to what my dad said about football and basketball and whatever and parrot it back and everyone thought I was some kind of sports genius. Haha. Sounds like we both have the same type of genius. 😉

    • Thanks! I’ll be doing my NFL nails next… They’re not 49ers but they’ll be fun. 🙂 I thought this was a fun challenge and Ryan is so dang energetic and creative too that it’s really a lot of fun. 🙂

  3. I have never followed any type of sports, period. I enjoy going to live games (especially hockey) but watching a game on TV is so freaking lame to me. I realize I’m in the minority here so don’t throw rocks at me.

    • Pshhh I don’t even like watching games on TV. I’d love to go to a hockey game tho! I like going to the basketball games sometimes but to watch it on TV.. no thanks. I especially hate the super bowl. I only like the commercials. That’s just too many hours of football on tv. Plus, I don’t really like crowds so that doesn’t thrill me either.

      • At my previous job, the one that gave me a nervous breakdown, we used to get free tickets to the Staples Center (games and concerts) AND we had one of the luxury suites. I saw a lot of hockey and basketball games! I even got to go to one of the playoff games! That was fun.

        • It is fun when everyone is really hyped. 🙂 I just hate all the people. That sounds weird but it’s pretty much what I mean. I have a problem with lots of strangers… like I stupidly feel like they’re looking at me or something. Plus I get hot and feel like everyone is touching me and it makes me really uneasy feeling. I think I need to work on that because seriously the other night my husband was suggesting I go grocery shopping by myself (I’m a big girl, right? This should NOT be a new idea. But in my defense he always goes with me and I’m the navigator and he’s the grabber) and I seriously got SO upset. I was like “I HAAAATE the grocery store, why can’t you just go with me? I don’t know where things are and people just stare at me like I’m an idiot and…” It sounds COMPLETELY ridiculous when I’m telling you right now but it legitimately upset me. Plus, I hate crossing parking lots, my mom even said the other day (when I told her no matter how far away I have to park I always like to park along the edge of the building) that I’ve always been afraid of crossing streets. I’m sounding more and more crazy as this goes on. I’m done. 🙂

          • Ok, so you know I have my crazy issues but yours sound kinda crazier in a sense. lol I always do everything by myself which is prolly why I can never imagine actually being married…like wait, you mean you’d be here ALL THE FREAKING TIME?!?!?!?! I do think I’d be happy being a hermit and living in a cave. I can understand your feelings about crowds, though. There was a time when I would get super worked up about being in crowds…even if it was like at a party where I knew most of the people. It got really bad after my episodes last year because I got all paranoid that they would ask me questions I couldn’t or didn’t want to answer. So did your hubs end up going to the grocery store with you?

            • Haha I know right?? It’s the dumbest thing. And I like being by myself… It’s just that I like to be by myself all alone. I don’t like to be by myself when there are people around. If that makes sense…? Anyway. And no he did not but he said he would cuz he didn’t care that much so if I was so upset by it he would just come with but I might go tomorrow after my hair appt. I don’t mind going to grab like 5 things, but I really don’t like going to get like the whole weeks worth or whatever.

  5. Hey awesome!!! I want to do Wisconsin badgers colors for my nails!! Red and black….how would I go about doing that??

    • Depending on how free-hand artsy you are you could either do red and white stripes like his little sweater (I would use striping tape for that- paint nails white, tape off stripes, paint red on top, remove tape) on all but an accent nail and then if you’re super free-handy then do a badger face, but if you’re like me and that’s just a little too much you could paint that nail all red, make a big fat W in white, then make a thinner W in red (leaving a white border) like the logo.

Or you could even make your own nail decal of the W and just slap it on there if you’re unsure about making the W right on your nail. To make the decal, paint a square of clear on a plastic baggie, then paint the white w red inside W, add more clear, let it dry completely on the bag, then peel it up and stick it on a previously painted red (or white or black or whatever color you want) nail. Add topcoat and it should look pretty dang good!! If you have twitter or IG, let me know when you do those, I’d love to see. 🙂
