Hey There Polished People!
It’s the second Monday in October and you know what that means.. Breast Cancer Awareness Nails!!! Today I have decided to kick off my swatches of the Cult Nails Deceptive Collection with my favorite of the top coats (which just happens to be pink-ish) Cult Nails Charlatan!! This may be stretching the whole BCA mani thing a bit but I hope you all don’t mind. Let’s get to the nails, shall we?
Cult Nails Charlatan
Charlatan is from Cult Nails’ Deceptive Collection which is a series of topcoats. They can be layered over any polish to create a different look. I think my favorite pairing is Charlatan over black. Over black is has a great color-shifting quality from pink to purple and a little blue in some lights, and it’s really, really pretty. Over the dark magenta in the first picture I think it looks interesting, but a little dated. Kind of like the frostiest nail polish ever. I’m not a big fan. I also find it really hard to photograph. These black/purple/Charlatan nails looked AWESOME in real life, and then in the pictures they just sorta look mehhh. It’s hard to do a proper review of the colors in this collection because they can look so different over different bases but I will try to do a bit of a review for each one.
Charlatan is a pink based flaky topcoat that shifts colors between pink, purple and blue. Layered over different colors it can have vastly different effects.
This polish is meant to be used as a top coat, so don’t even try to build it to opacity. The formula is smooth, the flakes are dense and it’s non-problematic all the way around.
Yes, Please! or No, Thank You:
If I was going to get one polish from this collection, this would be the one I get. Charlatan looks really cool over darker colors and creates a neat effect over lighter ones. For me this is a yes, please.
I’m sorry for the lame BCA post today. If you’d like more information on Breast Cancer, please click on one of the links below for more information and resources.
Do you have the Deceptive Collection? It doesn’t seem to be quite as popular as some of the previous ones, which surprises me due to the versatility of it. What colors do you think I should try layering Charlatan over? Let me know what you think and till next time- Happy Polishing!!
